The Lodge was originally built in 1865 for the Estate Manager of nearby Ashford Castle which dates right back to 1228.
In 1939 the castle was turned into a hotel with the Lodge continuing to host guests and events. It is now part of the award winning Red Carnation Hotels Collection and offers mellow country house hospitality artfully combined with chic contemporary style to discerning travellers from all over the world.
Guests of The Lodge have full access to the castle and its services and amenities. Featuring its own equestrian and falconry centres activities are numerous and varied with horse-riding - cycling - birdwatching - fishing - boating - walking and driving tours. The immaculate gardens to the castle are enchanting with the panoramic views across the lake - extensive woodland and nature trails provide adventure for every generation too.
In the Lodge itself the Quay Brasserie and Bar is perfect for casual dining whilst a la carte is served in Wildes restuarant - both are firm favourites with the locals and the perfect antidote to an active day. Games Rooms are also available on property including a pool table - video games and movies - whilst spa treatments can also be arranged upon request.
Excursions to nearby historical and archealogical areas of interest as well as just to admire the breathtaking scenery of the West of Ireland and Connemara can be requested
