Management here is amazing - very responsive, caring. I talked with Latrisha when we were 30 minutes away, regarding a last minute reservation I was poised to secure on the mobile app. I needed ground floor, which is impossible to do online - yet I wanted to book from the app to get perks like lower rate, points, etc. I booked online while she was talking with me, and she was able to save me a ground floor room. This review is about a stay in early October, 2022, in room 106, and our general experience. WHAT I LOVED: Ease of making the reservation. Friendliness and helpfulness of front desk staff on checkin. Amazing breakfast room and good breakfast options. Someone cleaning the tables constantly, so that it seemed very clean. Desk, dresser drawers, roomy dressing area with plenty of mirrors (even one full-length). Good TV and remote. Channel guide. Bedding warm and comfortable, 3 good pillows. Truly beautiful hot tub area. Entire property well kept with few exceptions ... WHAT I DID NOT LIKE Mattress not very comfortable - not up to Best Western standards. Okay, but not great. Desk light did not work; lights by each side of the bed are too high on the wall to be turned on and off from the bed - you have to stand up. There should have been 4 pillows rather than 3 on the queen bed. Desk light did not work - on/off switch was broken, as was the tech plug-in part. Outlet at the base of light no longer holds plugs firmly so does not really charge devices unless you somehow hold them in tightly. BOTTOM LINE I would stay here again. Good pricing, good experience, good management. Those are the keys to success and a good guest experience.

Just this morning I checked out of this hotel, and upon arriving home I found I was missing my car keys (having been traveling with my parents). I call this hotel and it rings and rings, finally going to a voice mailbox that is too full to leave a message. I’m desperate so I call again... and again... and again. By now I realize someone is there, they’re just not answering. It goes straight to voicemail after a single ring. I keep calling, because now I’m indignant. I change my cell phone so it doesn’t show my called ID and sure enough the guy picks up. “I just need to know if I left my car keys in room 103,” I say. He replies “we don’t have a room 103” and hangs up. This might be true, although I’m pretty certain that was my room number, but nonetheless I still didn’t have an answer, and I was more outraged than ever. I kept calling. “Mother f****r, what do you want?!” He bellows several calls later. “I just need to know if my car keys were left in...” “NO” he shouted, hanging up again. I kept calling (47x) but now he was lifting the receiver and slamming it down and I knew no matter how annoying I was I wasn’t going to get an answer. So I still don’t know if they have my car keys and I think I’ve gained and enemy for life. Oh PS the hotel was old and dingy but clean. Other than the awful, awful manager I would have given my recommendation to stay there for a cheap, decent nights sleep.

Hampton Inn Mesa Verde/Cortez

Stayed in this hotel on our way to Utah. Clean room, friendly staff, awesome breakfast, which in addition to standard selections included green chile stew. There's another hotel between Hampton inn and the mountains, but the view from our room was still stunning.

We have stayed at this hotel in Cortez a number of times over the years and have always been pleased. But on two different occasions in recent months, we were unable to get hot water in the shower, and denied a ground floor room. Arriving around 4pm in our most recent trip, I requested a ground floor room since we are 'senior citizens'. I was told by the young woman at the desk they were all sold out. As we watch the parking lot not fill up that evening, I realized that was not the truth. The rooms we requested were never occupied. So...we will stay some place else next time through Cortez. Too bad...the rooms are always clean. But dishonestly...can't tolerate that.

Hygienic: The room is very clean Facilities: Indoor pool and soup spring pool Environment: very quiet, I feel very good, the hotel goes out 300 meters west of Wal-Mart, cortez's tax 7.35%, not bad Service: Service attitude is great, waiters are very nice, breakfast is not bad
Retro Inn at Mesa Verde

A very comfy bed, respectful outdoor guests, friendly staff, a sweet retro theme and of course there was Elvis! This was the perfect place to stay while in Cortez, I highly recommend it. It gives the old style feel while keeping up to date with the bed, furniture and the refrigerator.

Great service by the front desk staff with fast check in, clear instruction and information on elevator location, room location, and breakfast time. Responsive to issues I rased and solved it creatively. For example, the room had no office chair, only sofa chair, harder to sit for me. They listened to my reasons and pulled one from their own office for me to use, which I appreciate this customer-centric mindset. The room was missing tea bags, they brought me more immediately with different brands to choose from. Unlike other Holiday Inns, this property provides more of a ”lodge” feeling. Negatives: 1) Hardly any electrical outlet near the desk or in the room. Inconvenient. 2) The bed was tilted.
