Visited during February ½ term for just 3 nights for me and my 11 year old daughter. Hotel has a great appearance from the street and inside the communal areas and lobbies are clean and fresh. Made to feel welcome suitcases taken on arrival and efficient check in, although there was no offer from the hotel to take our cases to our room. We booked a twin with lateral sea view, which overlooked the West Side. Good sized room, furniture and decor dated and tired. Everything was clean and in working order. After first day realised the balcony decor was missing (curtains) as where many others on this side of the property, and coincidentally this side isn't visible from the grounds or the main road, leading me to believe an out of sight out of mind approach. I'd imagine that the majority of rooms have a sea view, although we paid a little extra per night. Restaurant service, was clunky. First night, it felt that asking the female server was an inconvenience (and only asking for drinks) Second and third night we avoided her section and service was better. The worst experience was the poolside restaurant, waited 45 minutes and had to leave as we had appointments in the spa. The most disappointing aspect was we were a table of two, no dietary requirements, at least 5 other parties arrived after us, one a table of 7 and were all served food before us (and for reference we only ordered a burger and hotdog). The single most overriding issue was the dress code for the evening buffet restaurant, only Gents have to wear long trousers. So no tailored chino shorts for the guys, but women are allowed to wear short denim hotpant style shorts with spaghetti strap tops. I'm all for a respectable dress code - but this was totally double standards ( and no it's not like I was staying at the Four Seasons - where you'd expect a strict dress code). Bars - great service, especially the piano bar. Entertainment - Average to good Food - Average to good. Would I recommend this hotel - No Would I stay here again - No (For reference I completed an automated hotel email asking how my stay was so far, hotel did call me to discuss and offered another room, which I declined as we oy had 2 more nights. All feedback was given)
