Two years previously we enjoyed a fortnights stay at FuerteVillage, We booked again with the exact same company ( Secret escapes) and we booked exactly the same villa as previously. This time we were celebrating my husband’s 60th birthday, my birthday and Valentine’s Day. When we arrived the villa was as we remembered, but the doors to the main bedroom were locked. This main bedroom has a wonderful sea view out of a bay window and it has a large king size bed. My husband went to ask the staff who said if we wanted two rooms we had to pay an extra €50 a night. This seemed strange as we had booked exactly the same as before when we had 2 rooms. It is preferable for us to have two rooms as my husband suffers with sleep apnea and has to use a CPAP mask every night. He finds it highly claustrophobic so often removes it consciously or unconsciously whilst sleeping. Without the mask neither of us sleeps so a spare room is perfect for one of us to go into. Additionally the downstairs room we were allocated has two single beds, no view and is, in my opinion, the inferior of the two rooms. I asked the ladies on reception if we could swap to the other bedroom, no that wasn’t possible. They did agree to change the bed to a king size the next time the twice weekly cleaning session was in progress. Reception staff said they needed to cut costs, hence the one room, they said they had to cut back in cleaning. This is odd telling me, a paying customer who is helping out the financial difficulties.! They said to bring proof of booking. My husband had booked it on his work email on his laptop, he hadn’t brought it and due to the demands of his job he doesn’t get work emails on his phone. On arriving home we checked, we’d booked a villa suite which states it is two bedroomed. There were other niggles, the safety deposit box in the bedroom didn’t work and one sink wouldn’t drain and kept gurgling through the night. I cannot understand why they couldn’t simply have allowed us access to the main room and locked the other rather than changing the bed round and coming to help us with the safety deposit box. Overall we had a nice time but I feel the staff were very mean spirited and they’ve certainly lost two return customers.
