Best Hotels in Cremorne

The Bay Apartments are a good value but simple place to stay in Hobart. We stayed here for 1 night this week, in a 2 bedroom apartment. The apartment was clean but small. It had an overpowering smell of cleaning products when we arrived but this dispersed during our stay. The bathroom is a traditional shower-over-bath, and there is a small living area and flat screen TV. There is a small cooktop and sink, and a bar fridge. The apartments are a short walk to a large range of restaurants, a Woolworths and a Cole. There is also a pub (almost) next door. It is a short drive to Hobart CBD and there are public buses out the front. We were apprehensive at first as it was quite noisy (noise from other guests and from the road), but this didn’t affect our sleep quality. There is parking outside the unit and one reverse cycle aircon unit in the living area. Don’t expect a fancy property- this is a basic but well presented unit at an affordable price point, not a $300/nt property. If you set your expectations correctly this is a very good property. The stairways to the upstairs appartments are very narrow and it is difficult to carry large cases up and down. I’d stay here again if looking for a basic stay in Hobart, but probably not for multiple nights.

I am very disappointed as I thought I booked a room in Wrest Point but instead it was in adjacent property called Motor Inn. I felt that I have been cheated as the picture in the booking details showed me Wrest point Towel and not Motor Inn. I thought the room was called Motor Inn as I have not been there to know the existence of Motor Inn. When I queried about it, they said it was the agent's (trip.com) fault . To move to the main tower will cost me an extra of $80. I felt I have been conned and they should have placed the Motor Inn building photo instead of the tower of Wrest Point in their website for booking. (It is deceptive marketing - show you a ferrari for sale and got a lemon after you have paid for it) Motor Inn is an old building and does not have lifts to the room we were allocated and being retirees , we have to carry our bags up to 2 flights of stairs. On top of that, the room walls were not sound proof and you can hear every customer slamming their doors and flushing their toilets. I thought we have booked the room with the sea view instead there were only bushes as a window view. It was so embarrassing when I thought I could request for a room on a higher floor in wrest tower for good views but instead shown out of the door to an old adjacent building call Motor Inn. In all its websites and advertising, there is not 1 photo to show Motor Inn as Wrest Point . It has always being the tower used to promote the sale of their rooms. The Bistro food is poor quality and costly. We order from the caviary and the food came out to be cold and dry. We wanted to try the other 2 restaurants Kwan Ho and the one on the 17 th floor in the main tower but were told they were close. I thought being a top notch hotel, their restaurant will be open 7 days instead they are closed 2 days.( sun and mon). - the days we were there sat,sun,mon) They have a fantastic location but sad to say they don't have the marks of a 5 star hotel. When it comes to writing a manual on how to own and operate a small boutique hotel then the manager Robert Devine and his team at The Rivulet must've written it. We were upgraded to the ''Alonnah Suite'' from a ground floor room for our two night stay in mid December. The quality of the room amenities were outstanding. The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom beyond exceptional. Being at the back of the hotel the room was also very quiet with lovely views of Mt Wellington from the free standing claw foot bath. The breakfast was to die for. A smorgasbord of fresh produce all tastefully presented.

We stayed in the apartment for 4 nights. As a rest stop during our trip to Tasmania, the attitude of the front desk of the apartment was acceptable. There is an elevator. There is a double bed and a single bed in the room. The kitchen facilities are quite complete, but not Clean, so much so that we went and bought a frying pan ourselves. In terms of cleaning, simply doing it every day is not enough. The apartment has convenient parking and a good location. Everything is within walking distance.

This budget motel in an old building offers small, cheap rooms within walking distance of the city and Salamanca as well as having two major supermarkets and various eateries just along Sandy Bay Road. Positives: Good quality linen, hot shower, plenty of extra pillows, TV, comfotable beds, quiet room and some parking, This is clearly advertised. Central location south of the city. Person on reception aimed to please, but was not able to give a positive response to our request for a light bulb to be replaced. Plug in heater was most welcome. Not so good: The carpet on the stairs is worn and torn (a safety hazard). Our room looked as if maintenance is a low priority - missing light bulbs, tiles missing in the shower allowing water to flow across the floor. This is a good place to stay if you intend to use the room for short periods.

Little bit dated. Booked through Qantas Hotels and somehow was upgraded. ( No requested room available? do not know.) Water shower deluge head is great. Plenty of towels washers etc. The body wash and shampoo bottles are squeeze to actuate, sounds simple doesn't it? Mattress very comfy. Pillow a little firm for me but I did have the choice of 5! You get a kettle and that's it. Fridge opens one way, cupboard door opens opposite way. Not user friendly. Mis mash of cups. No knife or fork. Had to book for a couple of nights the next week but was an extra 50 an night. Thought that was a bit unnecessary for a returning client booking the same room. We had two windy nights and the sliding door widows rattling was enough to keep you awake. Need to be wedged. Location to town. Excellent, walking distance.

Said to be a shop, specifically a large inn, downstairs is a bar, restaurant, slot machine room. The lobby is right on the side of the bar and restaurant. This shop was remodeled from an old house. There are a total of eleven rooms. On the second floor, open the door with a key, the stairs are up and down, and the key to open the door is the key to your room. The quietness of the accommodation is entirely conscious of the guests. There is only one chain on the door of the room for security measures and no anti-locking. The bathroom is big. Breakfast is a Western-style breakfast, a la carte meal, breakfast tea drink buffet, tea, water, milk, juice. The location of the hotel (inn) is very good, this is the biggest advantage.

We stayed on the 5th floor facing the main road, however the room was very quiet with no noise whatsoever from traffic or adjacent rooms. The staff were extra helpful. If you paid for breakfast it included both continental and hot food with a very wide selection to suit all dietary requirements. The restaurant specialises in Asian meals. The Capitan's Chicken and Potato Curry was a favorite. The rooms were clean and 100% functional as a maintenance feedback form is left in every room. The blackout curtains stopped all the light for those that like to sleep in or get over jet lag. Security was enhanced by room card access to the lifts. It was a 10 minute walk to everything, a 3 minute walk to the Skybus stop and 5 minute walk to the Hop-on-hop-off stop. Good value and recommended.

Had a two night stay, extremely obliging reception staff, arriving earlier than anticipated but were able to allow an early check in. Appreciated with the extremely cold weather. The room was spotlessly clean, comfortable beds. A great choice of Cafes close by for a coffee & snack. Plenty of places close dinner options. A place to remember for my next trip to Hobart. Will be a return traveler to Mayfair whenever in Hobart.

When you arrive at the Grand Chancellor you will find a tiny front drive that can fit about 4 cars, where you are supposed to be able to park, check in, and then move your car to their underground parking. However, this front drive is not monitored so when we arrived the driveway was completely full with no one there to direct us anywhere. We drove around the block to enter the underground parking and unloaded our bags which we had to carry up the stairs from the parking garage as there was no guest lift that we could easily find (good luck if you have trouble with stairs). At the bottom of the stairs there is a button that you can supposedly use to call someone to assist with your bags. We tried to use this and though we could hear the bell upstairs, it was not answered (even just to let us know that someone would come), so we gave up and carried our bags up the stairs. Upon arrival to the room, we noticed it was clearly very dated. We could see some effort had been made to update the rooms visually but the installations felt very half-****d. For instance instead of a shower curtain for the bath tub there was a half glass pane that is delightfully too short and instead bounces water off its side and onto the floor. A rainfall showerhead had also been installed but it seemed like an afterthought as it was crooked and had poor water pressure. We then tried to use the pool. Upon entry, I felt like I was taken back in time to the days of dark and damp fitness centers and unmaintained pool floors & furniture. There were no staff nearby and the entire area was a mess. Walking into the locker rooms was a shock with horrible banged up smelly lockers (many of which were open but had no key to lock it!) and awful grey blue shiny tiles that bounce the cold flickering white light around. The shared sauna between male and female locker rooms was also a joke. We left without even bothering to get changed or use the pool. We then attempted to dine at the restaurant in the hotel lobby. The host at the front asked if we had a reservation which we did not. He then looked around at the many empty tables as if he was not sure what to do and then asked us to ”wait outside” as he checked availability. We have never been asked to exit any restaurant whilst they searched for a table (even in much busier restaurants) and we were very frustrated by this request. We waited outside over 5 minutes and then decided to leave and ask the front desk staff for other local restaurant recommendations. As we were on our way out, we noticed the restaurant host was hovering nearby as if he had found us a table and was waiting for us to be done but we left without another look. Upon arriving back in our room after dinner and turning off the lights to sleep, we were graced with the hallway light streaming through the large cracks in the poorly fitted door. We had to stuff the cracks with towels, and then cover the strong blue light from the thermostat (which had no function to tur
