The location was great and the motel was so cute! Highly recommend this spot if you’re visiting the Badlands - we loved it! The owner was kind and really helpful and the property was really well cared for and clean.

What a great find this turned out to be. Passing through when we found this quaint spot online. Very well appointed and comfortable with a kitchenette. Absolutely spotless and comfortable. The owner, Jane, was welcoming and helpful on the phone. Highly recommend.

Amazing little oasis in Wasta! On the last leg of our 12 day trip this adorable motel is just what these weary travelers needed. Adorable little suite with comfy beds, super clean, kitchenette and everything you need. Less than 30 minutes from Rapid City makes this the perfect place to relax. Super cute little bar nearby with good food and friendly small town a**osphere! My only regret is that we only stayed one night!! Highly recommend the Wagon Wheel!!

What a blessing to have such a laid back place to lay our heads. The room was clean and furnished nicely. Everything you need for a few days of relaxing. Jayne ( even tho I didn’t meet her in person) was helpful and so friendly to message with. Our kinda place, we’ll be back.

I loved everything about staying at the Wagon Wheel. The kitchenette is a very generous and unexpected plus for any traveler. I absolutely love the neighbor I met who quickly became a friend. The Wagon Wheel is a little gem in a town of around 78, kind and trustworthy folks…I hear a new baby is on the way, increasing the population! The owners, Jayne and Paul are well versed in creating a wonderful place to stay that felt like a home to me. If I’d had the time on my road trip, I’d have stayed longer.

this is a hidden gem, a must stay, simple and sweet, all in one, sleeping and kitchen and bath, with a back deck and front porch, super clean and owner super friendly and helpful and sweet , remote location, very quiet and peaceful. great for a night or a getaway to relax

I had booked a stay at the Wagon Wheel for August 5th, as a one-night stay on a road trip. Admittedly, we never ended up staying the night. My first interaction with the owner was pleasant, we received instructions for check in and some room adjus**ents. Entering the room was seamless and first impressions were good. However, the mattresses in a word, were DISGUSTING. One was old, worn down with mild tears and stains with insect debris littered throughout (I suspect ants or flies, but can’t know for sure). The other mattress had a zip bag over it (strange, since the other one did not), and was horribly stained and had black spots all down the sides. I recorded photos for documentation and immediately drove to the office at the Redwood Motel to alert the representative there. When I brought the photos to the representative, I said that I could not stay at the property while it was in this condition and requested a refund. I was given one quickly and seamlessly, but also alerted her that the mattresses should be replaced ASAP. I was told that since they were not a “chain hotel” there was nothing they could do (like your patrons don’t deserve clean beds too??). After the refund, I was unnecessarily informed that they would be easily booking my room “in ten minutes” for how busy the weekend was. That was quite passive aggressive of her and we did not appreciate her comments. Until these issues are resolved, I would not recommend staying here.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Wagon Wheel! Check-in was super easy, the cabin was cozy, very clean, and very comfortable. It had everything we needed for a nice stay including kitchen supplies and a window AC unit that kept us cool despite the heat. Jayne was so kind and hospitable. We spoke with her a few days before arriving to let her know that we were bringing our dog, and she was incredibly kind and accommodating. She also called us after we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed. The next morning we enjoyed the quick drive to Wall and the Badlands. We will definitely be back!
