The male changing rooms opposite the gym need to be shut down for urgent maintenance. There is mold spores growing everywhere which is toxic and detrimental to your health when breathing it in. A health resort should be aware of the dangers of mold. Overall the place is tired and in disrepair (showers not working / tiles in the spa missing / jets not working / lack of towels / stained towels) For the amount Champneys are charging you would expect a higher standard of facilities.

Planned a spa weekend for myself and daughters for a special occasion at Champneys and have left feeling completely underwhelmed and disappointed. Facilities (or lack of) : On arrival given stained and dirty off white robes . Outdoor jacuzzi was cold and dirty. Tiles need re-grouting. Spa pool was lukewarm, overcrowded and noisy. There was puddles of scummy water all around the pool. Hardly any seating to ‘relax’. No clean towels. Overall the facilities were shocking, dirty and dated. Massage: Three of us booked a full body massage and all came out with completely different experiences. For example, one had a head massage, 2 others didn’t. I’ve had a number of massages in the past and this one has been the worst. We were hoping this could have saved the experience but it just added to the disappointment. Rooms: Walls were stained with split coffee. No mattress protectors on the stained mattress. The bathroom suite was also rusty and mouldy. There was a tray of food which had been left out in the corridor for at least 12hrs hours (from what we saw) may have been longer . There is nothing luxury about Champneys apart from the price. PLEASE book somewhere else and save your money!! Champneys HQ - please read the reviews, I wish I had before booking as I am not the only one of your customers who feels let down and ripped off !

Staff very friendly. but the place seriously needs updating Was supposed to be here two nights but got a refund for the second night so stayed one. Food is good and a good selection but that's about it. Staff friendly Steam room not working and this morning there's still dirty glasses around the Jacuzzi area . Can't smell any kind of disinfectant at all. The place is filthy to be honest.

We stayed for two nights in June. Very chilled and relaxing experience. I like the old photos dotted about, that show it as an old school health farm from back in the day. We didn't use any of the chargeable services they have on offer and just lazed by the pool, worked out at the gym, enjoyed the grounds and the restaurant. Thoroughly pleasant time. If you like to eat healthy, get pampered and walk about in a robe then this is for you.

30mins to check in. Tired decor, staff, and rooms. ***** on the floor in the bathroom. Stains on the walls. To top it all off, we had a broken toilet seat as well. We ended up leaving and requesting a full refund. If you're looking for a spa escape, Champneys certainly sounds fancy - and the drive up is v nice - but once you get past the gorgeous exterior, I'm afraid the rest of the experience leaves a lot to be desired. We won't be back.

In general, the place was amazing, the grounds were beautiful and the staff were all helpful. It was a lovely calm atmosphere. If you get allocated room 164 however, (or it could have been 163 or 165), decline! The bath/ shower was awful - dirty, broken tiles, paper coming away from the ceiling!

I am a member and love bringing friends for a relaxed day together. All the staff are always very helpful, especially Louise and her team in the cafe. Our lunch did take over 40 minutes which feels a bit long for a salad to be made so feel there are some improvements to systems that can made still.

Louise in the cafe is the loveliest lady, she always remembers us from previous visits ( we go roughly 3 times a year) She always takes time to come and say hello & makes us feel so welcome! I’d say a real asset to a business, along with other staff, but Louise always stand out.

I came to Champneys with my husband for our wedding anniversary and I must say it was a lovely experience. We had turned up and we had the wonderful Zoe check us in and show us to our room also giving us a little tour around the resort. The facilities were amazing and so relaxing. Dinner that evening was amazing, a massive thank you to Lily-Mai who looked after us that evening and treated us to a glass of Proseccos each for our anniversary. Would definitely recommend.

I usually do not write reviews, but i really wanted to thank the amazing staff at Champneys Tring for making my stay this memorable. To name a few i would like to thank Rod and Agnes in reception team for great experience on arrival and departure. I really enjoyed Pilates class with Tom and would also like to thank Natalie and the team for a great restaurant experience. i will definitely return.

Unfortunately, our overnight spa stay was not as relaxing or luxury as we had hoped. As soon as we arrived at check-in, we were told there were no robes but some would be delivered promptly to our room - our robes didn’t arrive until nearly 2 hours later! However, they did say the café was open serving food until 4:30. We arrived pretty hungry, so popped to the café to grab a bite to eat at about 2:45pm, only to be told they weren’t serving food anymore. The whole café seemed quite chaotic, ran by young staff whose customer service skills weren’t quite to the standard you’d expect for Champneys. Multiple times I was delivered a drink that wasn’t mine, and the actual coffee I ordered took about 15 minutes to arrive. Anyway, after being told there was no food on, we mentioned it to a staff member in the café who then said ‘oh, I thought we were serving food’. She then went off and then came back to confirm food wasn’t being served, only to then come back to us 10 minutes later to say food was now being served again. It was a bit of a shambles. The food was nice, but the whole experience in the café was disappointing, especially as it was our first impression of the place. After we eventually got our robes, we were left with about an hour before our dinner slot, so headed to the thermal pool which was fine, but the lack of lounging areas and seating was pretty apparent. Unless you were in the water, nearly all the seats were taken so if you didn’t want to go in the water, you’d be standing around like a melon. Compared to Henlow where there is a large swimming pool with loungers and seats all around, the lack of seating seemed quite strange. Dinner was good, the food was very tasty. Again, there did seem to be a lot of younger waiters though who didn’t seem as welcoming or professional as you might expect at an expensive spa hotel. It definitely took away from the ‘luxury’ feel of the experience. Hate to say it but we did wonder how much training they get, or if they’re only hired in abundance due to being cheap. The rest of our stay was okay - breakfast and lunch were pleasant. However, after we went for a walk around the grounds the next day (as the thermal pool and outdoor hot tub was too packed to even attempt to go in) we decided to get one last drink at the café before we went…but we were told that the till wasn’t working so there was no coffee being served and to come another time. A perfect ending.

This is my favourite escape. My daughter and I try to come here at least once a year for a bit of r&r and pampering. The staff are friendly and professional. A great selection of treatments available, we try to have something different every time, and they've all been blissfull. The grounds are gorgeous for a relaxing stroll between treatments (bring boots, it can be muddy). Food is fab, healthy, and a wide selection. A special shout out for Louise in the cafe who serves up a great latte & cake, always with a friendly greeting

Day trip to champneys was made perfect by the wonderful conversation with Louise in the cafe. Absolutely fantastic member of staff & so helpful We had a great aqua class & a lovely lunch in the restaurant The resort was so clean & tidy and spent a fortune in the shop!! Thanks Audrey!!

I have been visiting this health spa for many years thanks to a generous son who buys me gift vouchers for Christmas! I have seen many changes but I must admit, my last visit was by far the best. It’s an expensive treat so you like to think you are getting your money’s worth. I noticed the improved selection at lunch time - all “healthy” but a much bigger selection. The breakfast was lovely too. I also noticed that you can order alcohol as well which many would find essential. The treatments were excellent and left me feeling thoroughly pampered. Emma, in particular, was very friendly and professional. Apart from an apparent shortage of towels in the day guest changing room ( busy time?) it was a lovely day out.

Just had an amazing spa heaven cocoon treatment by Zuzanna. It was incredibly relaxing. It involved an exfoliation, then a lovely balm on the body. Whilst that was soaking in Zuzanna did a shoulder and foot massage. The products were lovely.
