Santayuan Cangshan Garden Hotel

The environment here is absolutely fantastic. This is my favorite hotel after all these days in Yunnan. It's so comfortable that you don't even need to go out; just staying in the hotel is wonderfully relaxing.

A hidden gem of a hotel where you can spot squirrels. It's conveniently located right next to the Three Pagodas Scenic Area, with the entrance gate just a short walk away. The ambiance is lovely, the service is attentive, and the staff are incredibly warm and friendly. What's truly special is that despite its proximity to the scenic area, you can still enjoy absolute peace and quiet here, which perfectly complements its Zen theme.

The walls and floors were completely covered in mold; it was simply uninhabitable. Upon entering, there was a strong musty smell, and I felt like I was breathing in mold. I barely slept a wink all night. The bathroom clearly hadn't been cleaned in ages, full of sticky grime. While the staff's service attitude was acceptable, it couldn't compensate for the abysmal environmental conditions. How can they possibly justify charging nearly 700 a night for this kind of environment? Don't they have any conscience? If my check-in hadn't been so late, I would have definitely switched hotels.

The hotel's facilities are a bit dated, but its location and surroundings are excellent. The service was also decent. It's literally just a wall away from the Three Pagodas, and there are plenty of dining options nearby, all within a few hundred meters' walk. The rooms themselves are quite spacious; it would just be perfect if they underwent a renovation.

The hotel's environment is excellent, and the service is fantastic! The ancient town is a bit far to walk, but ride-hailing services are very convenient, costing around 10 yuan for a one-way trip. If proximity is a priority, staying directly in the ancient town would be more convenient. Getting to the Gantong Temple Gate of Cangshan costs about 20 yuan. The mattress and pillows were very comfortable, and it was wonderfully quiet at night, ensuring a good sleep! The only minor issues were the showerhead, which tended to tilt to one side when hung, and the sink, which wasn't particularly clean. The towels were quite old; I'd recommend bringing your own! The breakfast option wasn't great value for money, with limited choices. You'd be better off just taking a taxi to the ancient town's local market for breakfast.

During check-in at the front desk, a staff member rudely asked if we were foreigners, despite me having already presented my national ID. Didn't she even recognize it? We had initially planned to extend our stay, but given such service, we will absolutely never return to this hotel. Utterly speechless.

The service was incredibly attentive and thoughtful, the environment was tranquil and tastefully designed, and the room was spotless and chic. It was a truly wonderful stay, highly recommended!

Everything else was great, apart from a blurry TV, an outdated iron, and no dedicated rack for air-drying clothes. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The hotel boasts a pleasant environment, complete with a garden and balconies. It's conveniently located 2 km from the ancient city, roughly a 15-minute taxi ride away.

The grounds are wonderfully spacious, and the architecture is quite impressive. The location is absolutely superb, right next to the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple. What a pity that such a prime spot is let down by poor management; it feels largely neglected. Even the room amenities fall short of high-end hotel standards. If this property were managed by a professional hotel group like InterContinental or Pullman, it could undoubtedly become the top destination in Dali. I sincerely hope they make efforts to improve.
