Yi Inn

Location is perfect, next to the Yalu river. Room condition is so so. The owner was kind and eagerly tried to comunicate with me. However, the seafood prepared by himself was at very high price. The coupon for breakfast at KFC was useless. Hamburgers at KFC was expensive.

Of the four hotels on my recent tour of Dongbei, this was the most disappointing, offering less value for money and a decidedly poorer experience. Before I say why, I would like to first note that the proprietor is friendly and accommodating. He seems like a very nice guy, but his hotel is overpriced and an underwhelming experience. We may begin by noting that the hotel is in the middle of a row of storefronts, including a restaurant next door that uses a large PA to audibly accost passing tourists, the same appeal on a loop, over and over again all day long. If you stay here, you’ll no doubt become familiar with it. The hotel also has its own restaurant situated just below its room, so unless you want to listen to the conversation of dinner guests, as well as the taped appeal from next door, you’ll probably want to keep your room windows closed. Fortunately, the aircon is in good working order. The room itself is rather tiny, with just enough space for a bed and a desk. There is no wardrobe, only a rack for hanging clothes. The room includes a kettle, but no water and no tea or coffee. Bring your own. There is no refrigerator, so forget about keeping anything in your room that might be perishable. My white socks were greyish-brown after walking on the room floor; the desk was similarly dusty. There is an ash tray in the room, so presumably there are no smoke-free rooms. Wifi drops out frequently. My booking included breakfast but as it turns out breakfast is coupons to a nearby KFC. Lest you think I’m being ungenerous, allow me to note that I am comparing to places I have stayed in Dalian and Shenyang which were as centrally located, less expensive, and included more than double the space, in-suite refrigerator, washer and dryer, kitchen, and bathtub, plus breakfast prepared and served on-site. The respective per night prices in RMB were: Dalian 297, Shenyang 312, and Dandong 398. Even though the owner/manager seemed like a great guy, I would not stay here on a future visit. (Which is unlikely as city management seems unfriendly to visitors. All the major government tourist sites were closed for three days for a typhoon that resulted in perhaps 6 hours of rain in 72, demonstrating poor planning and disregard for people who make the effort to visit the city.)

A particularly comfortable inn, although it is on the side of the road, it is quiet and cozy because it is a step-by-step balcony. Sitting on the balcony and looking out is the Yalu River and North Korea on the opposite side. I originally planned to live for one day, but couldn't help staying for another day. Two hundred meters to the left from the inn is the Yalu River Broken Bridge, two streets behind it, there are many small shops, the owner is also a senior travel friend and food lover, shared many places of attractions and tourist attractions, recommended some small but tasteful shops in Dandong Very good restaurant. On the bank of the Yalu River, very close to the broken bridge, the river view room can see North Korea on the opposite bank. The owner personally manages the hotel, warm and thoughtful, and introduces local tourism and food. It is a good choice for foreign tourists to live in Yi inn. It is also very good to choose Yi Inn for group building and group activities. The inn can barbecue.

This inn has a high score on the Internet, so I booked it for this trip in Dandong. The inn has a clean room by the broken bridge and can see the Yalu River. It is very convenient to travel on the riverside at night. Outstanding but very sentimental. The small shop reveals the cultural heritage everywhere. The ingenious owner enthusiastically recommends the eating and walking experience is superb, especially the one-day trip to the border of Dandong. I am very satisfied.
