Xiaodong have been really helpful giving us suggestions and helping us on logistics. He went above and beyond trying to fix something for us upon knowing Yading Park was closed for a day due to sudden snow, unfortunately even the shorter route was not possible.
As we took the bus from Shangri-La and wanted to go to Kangding by bus on return, this is the perfect spot as it's a few minutes walk from and to Yading bus station, and surrounded by several restaurants, convenient stores and souvenir shops. One thing to note is the signage of the hotel says 'First Hotel' so look out for this instead, though taxi drivers do know them by Chujian Art Hotel.
I feel the hotel / rooms are a bit run down. There are rooms for the hotel to improve, like cleanliness as I noticed some stains on carpet floors and pillows. Some items are about to be broken/fall apart. Next to the sink, would be great to have a little shelf to put soap holder, and guests can place their personal toiletries. Adding a doormat in front of bathroom would be great as the tiles are slippery when wet. Do specify if you want your bed to be made as well: otherwise, the maid would just clean the trash and supply toiletries, water.
