Heyang Inn (Datong Railway Station Ancient City Branch)

This inn boasts an excellent location, right outside the East Gate of the old town, just across an underpass. The underpass entrance even has two attractions: the Liang Sicheng Memorial Hall and the Pingcheng Memorial Hall. It's also a mere three-minute walk to the tourist shuttle bus stop. The room itself is quite spacious. The only downside is the complete lack of dining options nearby.

The environment here is great, and the price is quite reasonable. It's super close to the ancient town. The room is very spacious, which I really liked. They also have laundry facilities for washing and drying clothes. It's a very quiet place. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my stay.

The shower stall was tiny, and the room facing the street was very noisy. What's with the three honks before 5 AM for two days straight? On the other hand, the location is superb, with the tourist shuttle right at the doorstep.

He Yang Inn is just a hundred meters from the Datong shuttle bus, making it incredibly convenient for visiting attractions like the Hanging Temple, Yungang Grottoes, Yanmen Pass, Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, and Wutai Mountain. The inn is also well-equipped with amenities such as a water purifier, washing machine, and drying rack, and offers excellent hot water. It's definitely the top choice for accommodation when traveling to Datong.

Pros: 1. Excellent location, directly opposite Datong Ancient City and Yangdong Gate, and near the scenic shuttle bus stop. It's very convenient for getting around to various attractions, and after a night tour of Datong Ancient City Wall, it's an easy walk back to the guesthouse. 2. There's a direct bus from Datong South Station, and it's easy to hail a ride-sharing service or taxi right outside the guesthouse. 3. Well-stocked with toiletries, and the complimentary laundry service is very practical. 4. The guesthouse staff are also very friendly. Cons: 1. A bit far from restaurants, supermarkets, and pharmacies in residential areas, so dining requires a bit of a walk. Lacks some everyday convenience. 2. The bathroom is small, water pressure is low, and the showerhead has issues, making for an uncomfortable showering experience.
