Hampton by Hilton Datong

I’ve stayed in many places, but this is one of the best experiences I’ve had in China so far. Upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised with a room upgrade. Throughout my stay, the entire team—from the front desk and the manager to the housekeeping staff and the handyman—was incredibly helpful. They even extended my check-out to 3:00 PM to align with my train schedule. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Datong!

Excellent place of a business or holiday traveler. Close to ancient village and close to railway stations.

I had a wonderful stay at the Hampton Hotel in Datong and was genuinely impressed by the level of service and hospitality. The room was modern, spotless, and well-equipped with all the amenities you’d expect from a quality stay — comfortable bedding, fast Wi-Fi, and a clean, spacious bathroom. What truly stood out, though, was the staff. They went above and beyond by preparing an early breakfast pack for us when we had to check out before the buffet opened — a small gesture that made a big difference. They also safely stored our luggage after checkout, allowing us to explore the city hands-free before heading to the train station. Overall, the service was efficient, friendly, and thoughtful. If you’re visiting Datong, I highly recommend staying at Hampton — they make traveling easy and comfortable from start to finish.

Very comfortable room. The room is clean and the location is not far from the ancient city. Just a short taxi ride away. Breakfast variety was decent. I always enjoy my breakfasts at Hilton Hampton. Front desk was polite and helpful in suggesting places to eat and visit. The room is a tad hot during winter as it’s centralised aircon. We opened the window for some ventilation. As the air is dry in Datong, i like the fact that they provided a humidifier in the room. Great 2 night stay.
