Salaya Beach Houses

We loved Salaya Beach Houses. We stayed in the Clown Fish room for 5 nights at the end of December 2025. Our OceanJet ferry from Bohol was about an hour late. We had pre-arranged a pick up by the resort and when we arrived the representative was there wearing her Salaya uniform, holding a sign with our name. The van was nice and when we got in she handed us cool towels and water. Our first in-person impression was so good! It was an easy ~40 minute drive on December 26 afternoon to Salaya. When we arrived, they welcomed us with a welcome drink and seated us in the dining room for check in. We ordered lunch and actually I was feeling under the weather and appreciated it when they said we could fill out some of the docs later and let me go rest in the room. I slept early that evening and the next day I think at least 3-4 staff inquired about my health. Professional, Detailed We originally chose this hotel as we are vegan and knew we’d be eating most of our meals at the hotel. Months ago, when we were planning the trip I reached out to a few properties in the area to ask about food options and Narciso not only responded, but responded with a thorough, thoughtful, and detailed response. We knew we’d found the right place. Vegan and Vegetarian Cuisine Salaya has a whole separate vegan and vegetarian menu! Throughout our stay we enjoyed delicious curries, tofu, fresh vegetables and rice, sushi and oatmeal. We not only ate well but also healthy! Excursions We were so happy with the service, that we pre-planned all of our excursions through Salaya as well. They organized a day trip to Siquijor, a day at Casaroro Falls and Pulangbato Falls and a day snorkeling at Apo Island. We originally planned to go to the Twin Lakes as well but I was not feeling well so we had a rest day at the resort instead. The seamlessness and professionalism of each excursion was fantastic! We had a wonderful guide, Jesse who is on staff at Salaya and came with us each day and we also connected with a local guide on all 3 excursions. Jesse is so kind and made sure we were always comfortable. Salaya arranged and took care of every single logistic - transfers, local guides, local fees for photos/experiences. They packed freshly baked vegan blueberry or raspberry muffins, beverages and huge beautiful lunch spreads - vegan. We value personalized service and they even labeled the sauce bottles with what is/isn’t vegan. Needless to say we thoroughly enjoyed each excursion. Special Celebration at Salaya My husband I were celebrating our wedding anniversary, so he organized a beachfront, candlelit dinner in one of their cabanas with a private server, Anne who was so kind, welcoming and attentive that evening and throughout our stay. We are scuba divers and underwater photographers. Our eleven day stay at Salaya Beach Houses was excellent across all areas of the resort. We would like to return here. For us it checks all the boxes for an excellent stay. We were in the Mimic Octopus room on the second floor with a view of the grounds, pool, and beyond to the ocean. This room is spacious with a main/sitting room, patio, bedroom, and large bathroom. All rooms had good lighting and lovely decor. In fact the décor is really nice throughout the entire resort. In the sitting/main room there is a large table and a comfortable chair and couch. A fridge and full-sized sink along with tea kettle and French Press coffee along with tea bags, coffee, and sugar. The outdoor patio with table for four and a recliner seat. They request no suits or clothing on the railing but do provide “towel bars” on the patio to dry wet/damp clothes. The bed was comfortable, a bit on the firm side. Housekeeping comes twice a day, with the latter remaking the bed after our naps. They bring little bites of banana bread or chocolate bread as an evening treat. It seems like we were provided fresh towels daily. The resort water system is designed to be potable from the taps, but a failed ozone bulb took that option away a few days in. A five gallon jerry can supplied us with drinking water until the water quality could be tested. The grounds are well maintained and clean. Restaurant says breakfast starts at 7, but staff is there setting up at 6. So, if you need a coffee or milk for your tea (like I do) it is easy to get without waiting. Food is good with what I would consider a large and diverse menu for so few rooms. The menu has basics like beef/chicken, burgers and fries, pizza, to salads, Asian / local dishes, and some fancier offerings. Modifications or other requests were accommodated every time. We found if we made our lunch selection at breakfast that our food arrived a bit faster between the dives. Once the staff became accustomed to us doing this they would ask us at the end of breakfast what we wanted to order for lunch. Very helpful for the 50% of the time we forgot to be proactive. We did not, but you could also order/eat outdoors at the bar near the pool for lunch or dinner. We did notice many outside groups of locals came to eat here during our stay. The spa can accommodate up to two at a time. We took advantage of it several times during our stay. Good therapists and options for different styles of treatments. Dive operation was rock solid. 8 am for two dives and 2 pm for one dive. The morning dives surface interval on the boat we were provided with a pastry, fruit and hot tea or coffee. Drinking water was onboard and we were offered it frequently. You are handed a warm moist towel once you’re back onboard. They have two boats, a ~30 pax capacity traditional wooden boat and an eight person capacity speed boat. Two days we dove with Jodi and Mike, resort owners, on the large boat. T

My husband and I came for a dive trip. We enjoy muck diving and the trip to APO island was well worth the trip! Our dive master was very knowledgeable and found us many nudis, seahorses, ghost Piper fish and so much more! We came for the diving we found was a wonderful resort. I have dietary issues, gluten-free, and the kitchen went above and beyond. They made baked goods daily for me. The rooms are beautiful. The pool is very nice. The only thing I could say is they don’t have much of a beach. But the location of the pool and bar made for great enjoyment of the sea there is a large section off area for snorkeling. Everybody is very personable and concerning. Staff was amazing. I would recommend it to my friends.

Salaya is lovely in most regards, and we would definitely return to Dauin. Pros: Gorgeous grounds, range of types of accommodation, friendly staff at dive shop and in both the restaurant and pool/bar areas, very nice pool and rooms with views, small/boutique-hotel feeling, and amazing, full, fresh breakfasts made to order (try the chia pudding with mango!). In addition, the 2-for-1 happy hour brings the total cost of 2 drinks down to about the level you would expect to pay at other bars or hotels in Dauin. Cons: 1. Prices for food, drinks, and diving are all significantly higher than at other nearby/Dauin resorts, and the dive pricing was not posted on Salaya's website, so was unknown to us until after arrival and discussion with front desk staff. 2. The dive trip to Apo had a further, substantial add-on charge for use of the boat that seemed excessive relative to other Apo trip charges at nearby dive shops. 3. On checking in to our Ocean View Suite (which we had chosen partly because it has a full kitchen), we were told there is an extra fee of $100 USD per day for actual use of the kitchen stove or range. This is written on their information sheet in the room, but we had not seen anything about this during our booking process or pre-arrival communications with Salaya, so we were disappointed. The kitchen also was stocked with exactly two glasses, two mugs, two plates, and silverware for two, but lacked any pots, pans, spices, oil, blender, cutting board, knives, or basic utensils that would be needed for cooking or even cold lunch food prep. Perhaps those are provided if you request to pay the $100 per day to use the oven or range? Dials/controls on the range controls have also been removed to prevent any use without prior arrangement. This all felt a bit off-putting, when most of the area has such an inviting, easy-going, and trusting approach. Though we liked our interactions with the dive shop crew and enjoyed the food we had at Salaya, the pricing for dives, meals, and spa services were such that we ended up walking a bit down the beach or into town to take advantage of other options in the area, and that felt like the best of both worlds.

i recently spent a week here at the ned of a month-long Philippines scuba diving vacation. Salaya was by far the best of all-inclusive resorts we visited. The staff was great and really seemed to enjoy working at the Beach Houses. The rooms were spacious, clean and well-appointed. The grounds are gorgeous with beautiful flowers throughout the resort. The restaurant was first-class and really exceeded our expectations. Finally the scuba-diving was amazing with so many undersea critters. The dive sites are very close to the resort so travel time by boat is minimal. I highly recommend Salaya Beach Houses and will hopefully return in the very near future.

My Guest went to Salaya Beach Houses for a business dinner, and they were very impressed. The food, the service, the kindness of the staff. Relaxing atmosphere with a modern open space. Thanks to the staff, especially to the lady at reception, for her kindness, attentiveness, and professionalism. I think her name was Jenicel.
