The Madeline Boutique Hotel & Suites

Davao|0.67km from Brokenshire College, Inc. (Madapo Davao City, Main Campus)
We were a group of 4 for my first trip to Davao and this hotel's modern design of repurposed container vans quickly caught my eyes. The hotel is located in a mixed neighborhood, somewhat away from most touristy areas, although G Mall and Abreeza Mall are less than 1.5km away. There are plenty of seating areas on the upper areas, but these are open air, therefore, weather-dependent. The quad room is spacious and has a good mount of storage space, between the wardrobe and the TV cabinet. The room has 2 queen size beds, which are of decent firmness... so quad in this sense means shared sleeping for 2 people. The 4-person room also comes with breakfast, but only for 2. Breakfast for the other 2 would mean paying PHP350 per person per day. We were disappointed with breakfast and skipped it on the 2nd and 3rd days of our stay. The front desk staff were friendly. However, I wished they were more equipped to give information on what Davao had to offer and where to go. The night before we checked out, we specifically requested if they could reserve a taxi for us by 5:30 am and was assured that this will be done. That morning, we repeated this request during wakeup call and at checkout. We were told by the staff that the guard is out on the street to hail one for us. 15 minutes later we were still on the roadside, waiting for a taxi. Thinking that the hotel might not have a directory of taxi company numbers, hence the failure to book a taxi as assured. However, we were surprised that the staff actually had the required information and actually called a taxi... more than 15 minutes AFTER the time we requested it. Thank goodness that we gave ourselves extra time otherwise we'd have missed our flight.

My Hotel
3.5/59 Reviews
I stayed here last October 2019 for 4 nights. I booked for a double room in this hotel, the space is just okay. It has a double bed, 1 side table, work table, flatscreen tv with some channels, hot and cold showers and towels and free toiletries (tissue and soap). Cleanliness ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3/5): I rated just 3 because there’s a bit of weird smell upon entering the room. The comforter, sheets, pillow cases and blankets have stains and smells old. The floor also are dusty and the showers and faucets are a little bit rusty. Comfort ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5): The matress itself are comfortable and the airconditioning works properly but as mentioned above, the sheets smells old. Services ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5): I love their services. Specially the front desk officers (Apple and I forgot to ask the name of the other one), they are very professional and accommodating. We asked them a lot of times regarding directions and they always gave us a detailed one. So we didn’t got lost getting around Davao. The restaurant staff are also very accommodating and the food services are very quick. Food ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5): We ate here everyday for our free breakfasts and all of the plated meals I ordered I am very much satisfied. They served the food plentiful and they even have unli brewed coffee every morning. Location ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5): I can say that this hotel is in a very strategic location because it is near to some of the tourist destinations of Davao like People’s Park, Roxas Night Market, Bankerohan Public Market. It is also very near many restaurants and some of the jeepneys and taxi routes (To Eden Nature Park (Toril bound), To Jack’s Ridge (Matina bound) are just walking distance or just in front from or of the hotel.
Q8 Hotel - Davao

Nice location. Near to Davao City Hall and San Pedro Church. Near to McDonald and 7/11 stores. Near public market and grocery stores. Amenities need to improve like need to provide doormat, hangers, hanger rack, and bathroom tissue. The WiFi connection is not so good on the 2nd floor. Staffs are friendly but need to be oriented more on public transportation like how to get to a certain place using public vehicles. In that way they can help more. Haven't tried their meals. Air conditioning is good. The bed is wide enough for two. The shower is hot and cold. The drainage in the bathroom is okay.
The Strand Suites and Dormitel
4.1/527 Reviews
THE SITUATION We were on a budget and planned to stay for an entire week. We chose The Strand because the online information said it: 1) Was in the right location (near malls) 2) Fit our budget of less than 1000 pesos a night 3) Pictures showed it was clean and looked fairly new 4) Didn't have that motel vibe PROS: 1) Affordable -- less than 1000 a night, man. 2) Friendly, accommodating staff -- we had to change our booking because we were going to stay in another hotel after our first night in Davao, and then go back to The Strand on the third night. Of course, we gave this confirmation before the no cancellation deadline, but what I liked was that we didn't have to do any rebooking online. The staff arranged the modification for us. 3) Morning coffee and bread -- The booking.com information said that breakfast wasn't included. They actually serve one cup of coffee (Nescafe 3-in-1) and one piece of bread (stuffed pandesal) from 6am-10am. It's not a substitute for a proper breakfast, but it can stave off hunger while you're on your way to finding a restaurant or cafe. 4) New building -- It was built only 2 years ago 5) Clean -- Some dirt between the bathroom tiles but not a big deal CONS: 1) Steep & limited parking -- We cracked the car's front fender, and there were only two parking slots. Another option is street parking, but then won't be as secure. 2) No 24-hour pharmacies within walking distance -- I got sick and the hotel doesn't sell paracetamols either. Bring your own med kit if you plan to stay here. 3) No elevator -- They only have 4 levels, so not a big deal unless you're a PWD. Just request for a lower floor upon booking, NOT upon check-in. 4) No jeepney or bus stops nearby -- it's an 8-10 minute walk from the hotel to the nearest street with public transport. We suggest downloading the Grab application so that you can book a taxi anytime. Davao taxi drivers are nice :) 5) Saggy mattress OVERALL: Great for those who are no-frills travelers. The room was very basic, but spacious and clean (we booked a studio). However, next time we might stay somewhere else with better parking and closer to a convenience store or pharmacy. There were other minuscule inconveniences but at such a cheap price per night I was happy to just let them go.
Rogen Inn
3.5/512 Reviews
Rogen Inn is a relatively new hotel. I was told they just opened this year. Location-wise, while it is still technically within the Poblacion or city center, I find that one has to walk a few thousands of feet before reaching the main highway. While there are restaurants and a coffee shop within the hotel building, you may find the need to look for other options. This is not available within a stone's throw. The free breakfast from MarinaTuna in the hotel complex is basic. It fills the tummy, but not the gastronomic soul. In terms of facilities, it has bad internet service and bad cable TV. Channels are few. Watching is a drag. The size of the room can only accommodate 2 people. 3 individuals won't fit in comfortably in one room. Staff are helpful in fairness, but won't go beyond the call of duty. If you need a more strategic hotel, this is not it. Otherwise, this will do.

Blueberry Tourist Hotel

Last April 1-3, this hotel was recommended to me by a friend since its very accessible to his place and many more. I checked in April 1 (Rm.302) by Ms. Risa, at first she is very accommodating. But one thing I noticed, she doesnt even explain to me anything about the services you offered, breakfast time and etc., she just gave me the key and go. Problems I encountered during the entire stay. 1. I gave Ms. Risa Php3000 for 2 nigths stay at Php1,365/night. After I paid, she didnt bother to give me a receipt and told me she will give me the change upon check out. 2. Upon check out, I was expecting to receive Php270 but she gave me only Php110. I just thought that maybe theres a tax or anything thats why I didnt bother to ask her because I was also in Hurry. April 5-8 (Rm.209), I checked in to your hotel again since I love the room and the buffet breakfast. But again, Ms. Risa checked me in and gave the key only. Problems I encountered. 1. I paid for the entire stay and again, she gave me nothing. 2. Requested to Make up my room on April 7 to Ms. Risa (again). After bfast, I told Ms. Risa to Make up my room and went outside. After 1hr I came back to the room and noticed that it wasnt made up. So I waited for almost 3hrs. At 2pm, I called front desk and Ms. Risa answered and I told her to follow up Housekeeping and she said okay. After an hour nobody came. So I decided to go outside and look for housekeepers and they said nobody informed them. So I called back again to the frontdesk and Risa told me, I never told her. Like what the Heck?! 🤷‍♂️ I called again and other frontdesk answered me and told her, “Give me housekeeper in 5mins or else find me another room.” And luckily Gigi and Ruby were very fast and accommodating. They stabilized my mood and apologized to me even its not their mistake. I called frontdesk again and told her I need your supervisor right now but unfortunately the supervisor wasnt in the premise and found out he was outside talking to somebody. The day and night passed by, no supervisor came and did nothing! May 3-6 (Rm.205) we checked in again with my partner this time celebrating our 1st anniversary. At first, we are very happy because my friends were assisted by the frontdesk and housekeeping to set up something special in the room and they did a great job. 👌💯 but unfortunately, theres something came out upon check out. 1. Ian the frontdesk called us and said our extension stay for 6hrs was almost over. I told him I talked to Ms. Maya already that will check out at 7pm. Just only 20mins extra time. It feels like they can hardly give you late check out time even they are not fullybooked. 2. Ian told me that I have to settle some charges consumed or used by my friends during the special request set up. So I was asking him what are those Items consumed or used by them? Ian just told me the total amount. Please, if theres any charges incurred during the guests stay, give them their folios or Statement of accounts. Dont jus
