I stayed with my wife on last Friday and Saturday. Our stay was entirely ruined by a noisy party held by the hotel and the way a manager dealt with it when my wife went to get music turned down and raised issues about not being told in advance about the late party. People who were not hotel guests were hanging around on the stairway up to our rooms. My wife asked for 1 night refund , pointing out that if the hotel had told us in advance we would have cancelled. She was offered a discount and when she asked for a refund for 1 night was told to leave then and there if that was what she wanted!. The hotel promised a “ management team meeting” to consider this. Tonight she received a bizarre reply making the hotel out to be victims in all this.

Anyone a bit older should bear this in mind lift does not work here. It was apparently not working in July last year either. The access to my room at the top was really steep without a proper handrail. It looked like still under construction. Really sad visit. My sister had a lovely stay here in July last year, so we came back with my brother and his wife for a 2 day stay. Our first night , Friday 12 April, there was a really noisy party that the hotel had. I think to mark renovation of the dining room (?) . It was really busy and a DJ played loud until after 12.30. We had not been told about it and had been traveling since 4am. My sister went down to get music turned down at 11, 11.30 and again at 12.30. She said when she asked for a refund the manager said only a discount and then f she wanted a refund to check out now ( 12.30 am). She was shocked that anyone could suggest that. None of us slept well after this. The manager seemed to have cleared off after the party and left young staff to deal with our complaint over the weekend. Such a shame as the location is lovely and younger staff were nice.

Arrived after a long journey starting at 3.30 am , was told via email 3 days before arrival , opening party for friends, Party for 100 plus people , couldn’t sleep , people on the stairs that went up to the bedrooms , fire door left open , DJ etc , my sister went down to complain twice , was told by the Manager that if she wanted a refund at 1,30 am ! She should leave now !! She had her pyjamas on , total disrespectful reply from the Manager . The next day her poor junior staff had to deal with the complaints from us all .

BASIL FAWLTY SCHOOL OF HOTEL MANAGEMENT. See also a review posted in January by another guest with whom wd have no connection. Previously we had a great stay last year at this hotel. So, I booked and recommended it to my family. So, 3 rooms were booked 12 to 14 April. Our reservations were made back in October ' 23. The hotel is apparently completing renovations of the downstairs dining area. When we checked in we were told this and there was a family meal ( we could see a table set out for about a dozen) and friends event to celebrate the renovations and that guests could have a complimentary glass of wine at 9pm. ( This meant that the hotel bar/ lounge area was out of bounds to hotel guests in the evening) . We personally had NO prior notice of this party despite booking rooms back in October. We did not make a fuss, went out to dinner, returned and found not a small scale family & friends meal / gathering a full scale large party in swing, 100 plus people entering in the evening and DJ and loud music. We had a drink, went to our rooms thinking this is not good after our 4am start today but it will end soon. 11pm came - still club music. 12 midnight same. I went down but on first ocassion could not locate the manager. By 12.30 there was still booming music making it impossible to sleep. I messaged via the booking system saying we could not sleep and that I thought we should have been offered a chance to cancel due to the planned party and should get tonight refunded. I later went down just after 12.30 when music was still reverberating. The fire door between the bar and stairwell up to rooms was wedged open each time I went down, party guests were spilling on the stairs. This allowed noise to travel further and presumably contravenes Dutch fire regulations (?) I was in Pyjamas with a jumper over them. I went to the bar and shouting over the music asked to speak to the manager. Staff got her and I did speak to her. She said she had seen my message ( but no explanation of why she had not answered or acted on it until I went down as music was still full on) . I explained ( against a background of still blaring music at that point) we could not sleep, had been travelling since 4am and I felt we should have been told about the planned hotel party and offered a chance to rebook or cancel. I said I thought we should be refunded this first night of our 2 night stay. I was told she could offer discount on one night but not refund as they had to clean the room. This made no sense as i had ticked the box saying ok not to clean room each night and they would have to clean after check out anyway on second night. I said I did not think a discount was at all appropriate but a refund due to lack of sleep and not telling us about the party. She insisted she had. It would have been funny if I had not been travelling since 4am as I was then told" You need to leave and check out NOW if you want a refund, as you need to pay something as you

Hotel was closed for renovation - it opened only for us for a meeting…it shouldn’t have…as not ready to host guests in a proper way…I will not mention decoration that is for sure memorable…but the heating that was not enough to make us comfortable (freezing cold outside), breakfast that was basic, and the service (most of the staff are students) somehow nice somehow rude…to keep it positive location is great and the little city of Delft adorable…hoping for the owner that the deserved renovation will bring the place to a higher standard

Delft is such a great place to be. I want to live there! Hotel de plataan Delft Centrum is really well located in a small square with three bars/restaurants and straight within the streets that hold more cafes, bars, shops, museums. The main square with the church is 5 min walk, only. Retains peace and quiet regardless of the central location. Despite fri and sat being busy nights it was a quiet hubbub in the square and could not be heard in our room. So convenient as meant we parents could have a drink in a lovely bar while the kids played in the square - safe and has a little sandpit Our room was great (salix alba) - family room - we are 2 adults and two boys age 6 and 8 They loved the bunk beds around the corner of our L shaped rooms as it was like their own private quarters Even their own TV in there (though few English speaking kids channels) Beds were so comfy Nice shower Shower gel/shampoo and hairdryer in every room Enough towels Breakfast decent - as many croissants , bread buns as you like, straight out of the oven! Cheese, fruit, cereal, yog, coffee, tea, milk, juice all included My husband missed his bacon but there were hams and believe me you will lose count of the amount of eateries in Delft so save a bit of room! I really want to return and would definitely use this hotel again, very easy to reach from train station-flat 10 min walk (max) Maybe next time we will go for the Egyptian or jungle themed room! Thanks Plataan!

Great fun room. Location on the square is fantastic. Walking distance to everything. A room with an actual ceiling fan was nice. Great buffet breakfast. Outdoor seating area ia a must in the evening as the square comes to life. We walked to the Delft Porcelin museum no problem. All the service staff was courteous and helpful.
