We came up to watch a football game at Drake with little kids and had a great stay! The ice cream shop around the corner is NOT to miss! Huge breakfast in the morning. Highly recommend.

The young man working the overnight front desk should be running his own hotel one day! I’m rarely impressed with professional acumen, kindness, and sincere effort to go above and beyond. I literally watched this young man treat a dozen or more people checking in with such professionalism that I was astonished. The rooms are extremely big, super clean and they have an indoor pool, I however, it was freezing cold.. the breakfast exceeded expectations. I think it’s a wonderful hotel at a perfect location and definitely a competitive price. If I ever roll through Des Moines again, I will stay at this property.

Very convenient location for downtown activities. Easy to locate and access. Exceptional accommodations and facilities.

Breakfast was excellent. Staff were wonderful. Tammy in the breakfast area was nice. We enjoyed her and the food. Front desk staff very friendly.

I have stayed here twice and both times I have not been disappointed. Great location to the river walk and eateries.

Other than a barking dog and loud guests in the hall, we had no complaints. Clean, comfortable bed…..it was great to stay the weekend.

Overall, this is a great hotel. We stayed here because of the free parking and the room having a full-size fridge. There is free, off-street parking, the area feels pretty safe, and there is a huge breakfast setup with oatmeal, breads, waffles, eggs, bacon, cheese... it's a true breakfast and not the sad continental breakfast you get at most places. The two things that could be improved is that where they keep the luggage carts block the intercom and key swipe for after-hours entry, which can be a problem if you have limited mobility and are unable to move the carts or if you are juggling items and don't have hands free. Not a huge deal, but something that could be improved upon. Also, they use the terrible polyester sheets on the bed, which are like sleeping in a trash bag. It means that we had to crank up the A/C to just be cool enough to sleep. I get that they are supposedly less maintenance, but they are terribly uncomfortable.

The hotel is across the street from the south side of the beautiful Drake University so only a 3 block walk to the football/track stadium. The hotel is now about 5 years old. Everything is nice BUT if you want to wash your hands in the bathroom sink, well good luck! The spout is set sooo far back on the countertop, and the faucet spout is sooo short the water barely runs into the sink. There's noooo room to get your fingers behind the water to wash them. It's the same in EVERY room. OTHERS have reviewed the same, so that tells me that corporate doesn't give a dam!!! Just keep taking our money and don't give or fix anything. There are 2 simple fixes but after 5 years, you know the rest of the story. Just another "do nothing" company.

No room service over our three night stay. Noise was so terrible. The walls are so thin we could literally hear everything the room next door was saying. College town and so could hear everything when people would walk down the halls
