Holiday Inn Express & Suites DES MOINES DOWNTOWN by IHG

This was our last stop on the way from Denver to Chicago. The room was generously sized, and very clean. Parking was convenient and seemed secure. There was an internet issue while we were there, so it was unreliable, but at least signs were posted everywhere to let us know when we checked in. Pool was also out of commission, but again, lots of signage let us know. Breakfast was good.

We were in town for a concert. The hotel supplied free bus service from the hotel to venue and even picked us up after the show.

Upon arrival, I found out their wifi was out; they were waiting for a part. The pool was closed for servicing. My room was clean and comfortable, but the walls are thin. My neighbor had the loudest TV. I was surprised to have a neighbor, as the hotel seemed pretty empty. The staff was very nice, the hotel felt safe, and breakfast was good.

I was disappointed that the pool and hot tub were closed. We were not informed of this until we checked in. It would have been nice to offer a discount/partial refund. The reason I booked this hotel was too keep two kids in my family occupied with the pool while another kid in my family was at the skate park all day for a competition. I definitely would not have paid this much for a hotel without a pool/hot tub. I was pretty sore after driving all day to get here from another state, which was another reason for me booking a hotel with a hot tub. My hotel reservation through ******* was fully paid for and non-refundable, so I was stuck with it. Overall, we were disappointed. This was the first time in a couple of years that I've stayed at a Holiday Inn and I will probably avoid them going forward and stick to Marriott.
