The St. Regis Marsa Arabia Island, the Pearl Qatar

Doha|0.77km from The Pearl-Qatar
We arrived a few days before NYE having travelled from elsewhere before heading back to UK. We were in Doha in March 2023 and loved it so were happy to come back. This time we decided to stay at the pearl as wanted to explore this area. We ended up finding a decent deal and booked our stay at St Regis. On arrival we were welcomed and helped as you’d expect and then were taken to check in where we were greeted and checked in by a friendly team. The room/suite was amazing with a large kitchen and living room space and a separate bedroom, a large en suite and a separate WC. It had all the things you’d want and have. The location is good, the pearl has a lot of restaurants and places to eat as amenities. However it is catered to a lot of westerners, which was ok but we didn’t really like that. This, in turn, resulted in mainly westerners staying at the hotel, so with all that you didn’t really feel like you were in Doha. The hotel amenities are good but the extras like food is very expensive which meant we went out to eat. Without sounding picky I felt it was too big a hotel to feel personable or feel connected with. Last time we stayed at ritz sharq village and although that is a big hotel it felt a lot more welcoming and the staff were a lot more attentive and more approachable and next time we will probably stay there again. Also the people staying there were a lot more diverse which we like. That’s not to say the staff were not nice here but they didn’t go above what was expected. We also did notice that sometimes it took a long time to get attention of staff. We called reception a few time with no answer and when we walked down to reception it was unattended and only the door staff were available. So unsure whether they’re short staffed. There was also one day where they forgot to clean the room and when we called to ask for room to be cleaned, we were made to feel like it was an unreasonable request. Overall, the room was amazing, the hotel looks great and has all amenities but any “extras” were expensive, not very personable and didn’t feel very true to Qatari tradition (which is meant to be welcoming and friendly). We probably won’t stay there again (although the suite is a very tempting) it just isn’t for us. It is probably more for those who want a light touch (in respect of communication) service from staff. We may come across harsh (with a 3/5 score) but I am comparing to the same standard of hotels we have stayed at. I am a gold elite member for Marriott and have been lucky enough to stay at some very nice hotels

Marsa Malaz Kempinski the Pearl Doha

I stayed at the Kempinski Hotel for three nights and experienced a roller coaster ride from anger to comfort. Before going, I booked a twin room with pearl view with longing. I hope to enjoy the true beauty of Pearl Island. When I entered the room, I found that I spent a lot of money on the balcony, and the balcony turned into a wall-view room. After arguing with the front desk reasonably, I changed a room for me. Before going to bed, I found that the bathroom lights were broken and the door was broken. So I was completely disappointed, I didn't dare to trust Kempinski anymore, I just wanted to check out and change to a hotel. I happened to meet the manager of the hotel Omar during another fight with the front desk at 12 o'clock in the middle of the night, he changed a suite for me, and the result was quite gratifying. But thinking about the previous experience, I was tossing and changing rooms with my child dragging a suitcase. This hotel's attitude towards Chinese guests is obvious. Never see me, Kempinski!
