Papai Country Lodge
5/55 Reviews
We are on a six-month trip through Asia. After the Trubel in Bangkok we looked for a few days in a beautiful facility with pool. The very positive reviews have drawn attention to the Papai Country Lodge near Chiang Mai. And, we were not disappointed. The chalets are very tastyly furnished. The facility is located in a minimum 2 hectares large tropical park, everything is very idyllicly constructed and top maintained. The pool has a size that you can swim right trails in it. That was important to us! Morning breakfast is over a river and enjoys the great nature and watches the squirrel and birds. Breakfast is varied, rich and very delicious. The eggs in the morning were served in another variation every day. The coffee in the morning is prepared in a proper espresso machine. We had booked a small chalet. As the last November was little, the owner offered us an upgrade to one of the villas without extra cost. The beds were, for the rest, comfortable for Thailand conditions! The owner probably had read some criticisms from European tourists about the hardness of the beds and immediately reacted. We were asked whether the comfort of the beds is now good. We could confirm that. The hotel has a small restaurant, directly on the river, where we have also had dinner tonight. The restaurant offers Thai, very tasty food at normal prices. The surrounding area is available for great excursions, including with the bike, which you can borrow free of charge. For rest-seekers and rehabilitation needy people who want to turn off a few days, this is exactly the right place! Of the many facilities we have had to know so far, the Papai Country Lodge is the top address if you want to experience beautiful nature with a certain luxury and great honest hospitality. We will certainly come back.
Baan Chai Thung Resort

We spent 4 nights in the standard bungalow after we had enough of Chiang Mai. The resort is very quiet and really beautiful. If you are aware that in the nearby environment is not all too much to explore, there is nothing to explode. There are still 2 cafes/restaurants on foot, the location is only 2 km away. However, you must not leave the resort: shortly after breakfast (8 - 10) the restaurant (11 - 21) opens. A masseur comes to the resort for 350 baht/h and the local roller rent ”lives” the roller also to the resort. This is not very cheap with 350 baht/day, but you have a good service and you have to deposit only 1000 baht as a bond (no passport) . Our bungalow was spacious and very comfortable furnished, you can really make it comfortable. However, you probably spend most of the time on your own terrace or on the pool. It is also to highlight Micha's helpfulness. He cared about everything and, for example, we have recently fixed our only true criticism that there was no mosquito network in the bathroom. Otherwise, communication with him was super and we received some tips. Overall, we are very happy with our stay and if we come back to the area, we will certainly look over again.

Vivo Bene Village

Vivo Bene is a hidden gem about 45 minutes form the Chiang Mai airport. Guests are picked up from the airport, which makes travel very easy. There are also regular shuttles from the resort into downtown Chiang Mai, so if you want to visit the Night Bazaar or other sites, getting there is easy. The highway into town is incredibly crowded, so it pays to be patient and not in a rush. About 50% of the guests are there for long stays, with a greater proportion receiving assistance with daily tasks and some living with dementia or other degenerative ailments. We also met several families with small children and older adults escaping long winters in Europe. The resort has a variety of stay options and meal plans priced in USD and Euro. There are Pavillion rooms located in several colour-coded buildings for ambulatory guests - 4 pods of 3 rooms in each, with a large common area and full kitchen. All areas are fully wheelchair accessible. Pavillion rooms resemble large hotel rooms. The bathrooms are large and well appointed. Villas include a larger space with a living room inside and an outdoor patio. The grounds are beautiful, and there is a squad of people maintaining them at all times. There's a large pool and the walking paths are easy to navigate. There are 30 support staff on the premises, some of whom perform general care duties and some of whom care for a single guest needing more care. Vivo Bene is very attentive with long-term guests - we saw them exercising outdoors every day and participating in group activities. The dining room has a varied, tasty menu and special theme nights. Food is tasty and well prepared; beverage and dessert selections are good. Staff are very helpful, especially Doris and Andreas, who answered all of our questions about the facility and long-term care options. It was much too hot to sit outside on our patio for long, but there was space in our room and in the common areas to sit, play cards, read or use our laptops.

Hot water, separate bathroom, and toiletries are complete throughout the day. It is especially convenient to wash up. Sleep is very quiet at night. The sofa in the room is particularly good. The surrounding environment is very good. The electric kettle and hair dryer are particularly good. Washing is particularly convenient. The space is still large, clean and tidy. The surrounding environment is very good.
