Toilet brush in ensuite positively foul, the carpets had not been vacuumed for some time and the architraves were coated with dust. Kitchen cupboards have what looks cockroach dirt in them and everything needs a good disinfect. Good location but road is very noisy.

Good points ... Although basic the double room with ensuite was very clean, the shower was awesome, the bed was comfortable enough & the location was perfect!! parking was really good & the price was on point. Points to consider ... 2 pillows per person would be better than 1, blackout curtains!! Fix the light above the bathroom mirror & the extractor fan in the bathroom so that you get rid of the musty/damp smell once the shower has been used & maybe so kind of hanging space for clothes. Bad points ... Although it didn't affect us as we'd planned and booked to eat out during our stay we did take a peek at the kitchen/dining facilities. The smell of grease was overwhelming, the toaster and kitchen sides were filthy and the whole area looked like it needed a deep clean.

Our 8th year staying here. A group of 17 this year. It's one of the best hostels we gave used. Self checkin is brilliant. Wi-Fi even in the outdoor cabins. The hotel across the road serves great food. The wee tearoom to the right serves great breakfasts. Another great stay. Roomb4 was great. Lovely shower and the bunk bed was comfy. See you next year.

Terrible - booking changed last minute and we were expected to go to a campsite outside of the village - inaccessible to use. Property would not cancel booking despite changing site and us not being able to get there. Horrible rude staff when you finally get them to reply. Reading the other reviews on here it sounds like a god send we couldn’t got but they made off with our booking fee.

This is one of the worst hostels that I have ever stayed in. It's unmanned for a start, there is nobody there when you check in or leave and clearly nobody cleans the place either. Horrible grubby bathroom and kitchen. I put my bag and jacket on the floor of my room and then had to wipe down the dust after. The bunk beds are the most uncomfortable creaky beds ever! Nothing positive to say whatsoever, avoid at all costs!

A bit strange, slightly surreal in a David Lynch , non good way. It is unattended check in, you walk in off the street and find a key. The kitchen smells of a thousand fried things that are still in the extractor fan. The room ought to be ok but every thing is slightly broken, the linen slightly stained and the floor slightly grubby. The fire alarm beeped incessantly from 8-11 pm when the back up batteries went flat after the guy they called out to fix had turned it off. The threat of a fiery death was at least better than the beeping. Cheap but still poor value. Cracking bistro/cafe over the road and handy for the Loch

My family and I recently spent two nights here. The only positive was the location. There is a great coffee/breakfast spot next door and the restaurant across the street was delish! The accommodations, though, were pitiful! It’s very obvious that very little is done to maintain the facilities and our room (and the one next to ours) had no hot water. We discussed this with someone familiar with the place and were told that the owner was aware of the problem but had not yet addressed it. This was so upsetting. We have 3 young children and they could not tolerate cold water. This place could be so nice but we felt as if the owner is aware of the advantage of their location so do not care about costumer service.

I have not actually been their yet. But for four weeks have been trying to rearrange my stay for the following day. This is impossible no one answers the phone nor reply to emails. If they actually said that the date cannot be changed then that would be fair enough, I would at least have had the courtesy of an answer. However all I have got from them is total silence. I booked via *********** and they get no response to their requests either. Unfortunately unless they get a response the original conditions remain and I would not get a refund, why should I be the one to pay for the lack of response from this place. I am now worried that if I do arrive then their will be no on there, the customer service is abysmal.

The first room I thought was ok? Out the back yard on its own in the corner. Unfortunately I sat in the bed and it was like sitting in a bed frame made of jelly. Couldn’t sleep on that. It would collapse it was so badly held together. Also the flooring was moving everywhere as the wooden floor boards were not joined. Moved me across the yard to a family one. Slightly bigger and a small porch out front. Got inside to see a single chair with all the padding given up on life a long time ago. The tv which in my booking confirmation email was part of the package in the room as a “ 17-inch LCD TV with digital channels and pay movies”. Yea, nothing! HDMI lead hanging loose on the wall with nothing to plug it into. Don’t say plug into the tv as a cable has to start from somewhere to send signal to a tv. A small chest of drawers with all the drawers different sizes. I have stayed at a few hostels in my time and several on this trip and though hostels are basic, come in. If you send someone a confirmation saying the room your staying in and which facilities it has in it then supply that.

we returned for a weekend at the Hostel. Lovely facilities, very clean and warm and friendly. highly recommend to anyone or groups. it is such an amazing setting and the owners are very welcoming and friendly

Very pleasantly surprised. The description in no way corresponds to the accommodation described on the site (or I really didn't understand anything), but for once, better! Small apartment with bathroom in a very well appointed container with nice layout and clean premises. Nothing to complain about, I recommend

Wir hatten ein Familienzimmer gebucht und mussten nach zwei Nächten vorzeitig abreisen, da ich über 30 Stiche durch Bettwanzen hatte – später in der Apotheke bestätigt. Leider war kein Personal vor Ort und auf unsere E-Mail und telefonische Kontaktaufnahme reagierte der Betreiber bis heute nicht. Eine Rückerstattung wurde nicht angeboten oder beantwortet. Sehr enttäuschend, besonders mit Kindern. Ohne Verbesserung von Hygiene und Kommunikation kann ich dieses Hostel nicht empfehlen.
