The Westbury Hotel

Dublin City Center Dublin|2.74km from Pearse college
This hotel is 5-star price-wise only. For example, when we arrived, we have been welcomed by the Customer Care Person, who explained to us who she is, but said nothing on how she can help us and definitely nothing about the construction on the 4th floor of the hotel. So, banging starts at 8:30, which presumes that everyone is up and about at that hour. Apparently, they were supposed to notify me about it via e-mail, but someone just forgot about it... If I knew there will be construction at the hotel, I would have never stayed here. I guess that's why I never got that email... The concierge reached out to us a while ago asking why we are staying at the hotel so long. We have written to him in a reasonable detail. No response. Zero follow-up. The concierge in general was great in instructing us how we can do things ourselves. Another example. We return to the hotel at 10 pm, and our ever-hungry teenagers would like to eat something. - We are sorry but all the restaurants close their kitchens at 9:30 pm, and there is no room service. - Can we have have at least some bread and butter? (And here, the staff at 5 or even 4-star hotel would respond ”Let me see what I can do.” But instead we heard:) - No. You need to take care of it by yourself. And, it is like this, pretty much with everything service-wise at this hotel. Only the staff of the first-floor café seemed to know what they are doing. It just looks like the place lacks direction from the management that is lost and confused. To add to the ”attractions” we could hear very clearly all the water noises coming from a room next door. We also had some trouble falling asleep as the guy next door snored like a hog in heat. I also think that having the permanently screwed through cracked dial to a heated towel rack is something that I would find at a 2-star hotel, and I still would be surprised... There was 6 of us in 3 rooms, and we stayed here for 6 nights. The impressions were all the same. It's the details that matter both in the customer service and the decor, and it is simply not a case here. At the end of our stay, the front desk staff has made a scene, because we wanted a detailed invoice. Thanks to that though we found out they have charged us additional numerous positions from the mini bar, which we did NOT use. So, please be careful they will try to cheat you.

Beautiful hotel in a peaceful and gorgeous part of Dublin. A few minutes walk away from the Green Line LUAS. The more compact bedrooms are a bit on the small side for a couple, but they’re still well appointed, very new and clean, and comfortable. The hotel bar is cosy and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The only downside is the lack of parking, you’ll have to park onstreet at fairly considerable expense. Not really the fault of the hotel, but it is something to note if you’re driving here.

We stayed here as a group of 6 for the weekend. From the moment we arrived, which was fairly late in the evening, until checkout it was a top class experience. Lami, on reception, was warm, friendly, knowledgeable, full of ideas for our stay, and she couldn't do more to make sure our stay was one to remember. There was also a chap on that night alongside Lami, unfortunately we didn't get his name, but he too was just brilliant. The apartment itself was fabulous, clean, with every kitchen appliance you'd need, and the beds were comfy and gave a great nights sleep. The breakfast was one of the best we've had. A great choice of items, relaxed atmosphere, and great value for money. We also had a pizza in the hotel at 1230 one evening and that too was delicious. Thoroughly would recommend this to everyone and we will definitely stay here again. Thank you all for a great stay!

We flew into Dublin T1, arriving 12:30 and caught the 784 bus - the stop is literally outside the terminal. A quick and efficent journey straight to Charlotte Way, across the road and into Camden Court for lunch. The hotel staff were friendly, but what really blew us away was the goats cheese salad ..... WOW... sadly we didn't stay at the hotel, but instead caught a 5 minute cab ride to our hotel...

This place was excellent! I travel a lot for work and was very impressed with this hotel and the staff. We were staying 3 nights before driving out to Doolin. We arrived 6 hours before check in and they were working to get our room ready. They provided us free drinks at the bar while we waited. When I told the front desk staff we would be parking a rental car the next day, he asked if we were picking up at the airport. I confirmed we were. He said 'I know the people at the Hertz a 5 minute walk from here, let me see if I can arrange a pick up at that location and save you time and money going out to the airport.' A few minutes later he had confirmed this, which saved us a hefty taxi fare and a lot of time. This was the theme with all of the staff - extremely helpful, friendly, and accommodating. Continuing to surprise us throughout the visit. Additionally, the accommodations were wonderful. Great rooms, great location (two distilleries across the street and shopping close by), and a fantastic breakfast. This was a wonderful stay and a great kick off to our Irish holiday. Thank you! It was my first trip away after major illness, so I decided to maximise my enjoyment by making my journey as easy as I could. Flights to and from France were bookended by one night stays in the Uppercross House Hotel in Rathmines, and the Phoenix Park Hotel, chosen for its proximity to Heuston Station and the train home. Had I known way back in January what I do today, I’d have booked both nights at the Uppercross House Hotel, and used the money I saved on the room to pay for a taxi to the station. My experiences at the two hotels could not be more different. At the Uppercross House Hotel my welcome, my room, my breakfast and every encounter with the staff was excellent. The staff in particular were exceptional: caring, friendly and professional. The cost of my room with breakfast was over €30 less than the Phoenix Park Hotel, and both my requests for a top floor room and a room away from the road were realised. In contrast my welcome at the Phoenix Park Hotel made me feel like a criminal. I always greet staff with a big smile. In response, in stead of “Hello!” or “Good afternoon!” I received “I.D. Please.” Then I found out that my booking didn’t include breakfast, and that no cooked breakfast was available. I accept both hotels are in the city, and therefore noise was inevitable, but the Phoenix Park Hotel ignored both my requests, giving me a first floor room at the apex of a busy traffic junction. Both window latches were broken, so I went to reception to request a room change, and was moved to another first floor room that also had broken window latches. Then I was kept awake all night by banging and thumping above me (that’s why I prefer top floor rooms.) The bathroom had a blocked sink and cracked floor tiles. Next time I stay in Dublin I’ll be at the splendid little Uppercross House Hotel, enjoying an evening down the road at Slattery’s excellent pub.
