We really enjoy staying here, especially the king bedrooms with the attached bathroom .It has its quirks for sure but it has character and the staff are so nice. They even put flowers in my room after they found out it was my birthday. We were on motorcycles so I couldn’t take them home but really appreciated it. Of course the best part of it all its the back yard/grounds, stunning, calming, just plain beautiful.

A charming historic hotel on beautiful grounds. Nicely appointed with antiques and a cozy room with a comfy bed. They included a delightful breakfast basket and the staff were helpful and super nice people!

Very quite and home like unique place tucked right in between the hills. Very friendly staff and comfortable rooms. We came relatively late, way past the check in and someone was there to greet us and show us to our rooms. Breakfast was prepared in the morning at the time that we asked, we had a wonderful experience. I would recommend for any couple or a small family.

A welcoming boutique hotel 2 hours drive from our home. The room was clean, quiet and perfect. The small town of Dufur allowed us to get away even for just a night. The gardens and surrounding grounds were so inviting. We stayed up late, drinking wine, cocktails and desert.

Wonderful stay-- very clean, beautifully decorated for holidays, cool clear Dufur sky and beautiful view of Mt. Hood. Great service and very good food in the dining room. Highly recommend it-- we'll definitely be staying there again.

This is a nice boutique hotel for a reasonable price. We had a queen bed with a private bath. Warm beverages were available in the lobby, and a fine continental breakfast was included. The hotel is quiet and furnished with antiques. The staff are very friendly and helpful. An outdoor historical museum is located nearby. Staying there was so pleasant and comfortable at the end of a week-long trip of nights in chain hotels.

My partner and I booked a night away from the big city and settled on this charming little gem. It comes as advertised - a historical hotel with thoughtful little features abound. We were the only ones booking on a Saturday in November, which was curious. We got there a little late and were the only ones at the hotel (the key was left for us on the counter) which was a little unsettling at first. But we settled in, had a wonderful bath, and enjoyed our evening. In the morning the woman who runs the hotel cooked us breakfast and we had a nice little chat. We'll be back (but this time bring people with us).

Once again we came down from Camano Island to help Dufur celebrate Halloween. We have stayed at "The Balch" something like 10 times now and as always the staff, the rooms, the fun of the area are to notch. Great job as always Mr. and Mrs Halloween
