The Queensberry Hotel

Absolute dump of a place above an abandoned bar. Reception was a bloke in a car. How this has been deemed fit for use I dont know. Avoid

The worst hotel I have ever been in...avoid, and do not look at any good reviews; the hotel has since been taken over. I was willing to overlook getting a single room when I booked a double. And was also incredibly forgiving over the misleading photos online. *Only one towel for hands/body/hair *One little bottle of body wash to be used for shower/hair and also for washing hands at sink. *The shower stopped halfway through use and eventually came back on with colder water, made a horrible wailing noise throughout. *There was no hot water in the sink *The milk went out of date in February 2025. *The coffee went out of date in 2022 and 2023 - no date on the tea bags but I'll assume they were out of date too. *The bedding was dirty and had hairs in it. *General cleanliness: cobwebs, spiders, dust and hairs. Overall incredibly disappointing. I booked as an emergency accommodation half an hour before I arrived, I decided to leave at 11pm so I could contest for a refund which the owner is being incredibly difficult about. The "resolution" he offered me was to remove the man from the room I was supposed to have been booked in to - at 10:45pm! Opted staying in my car over this hotel. How this place is still trading is an absolute mystery, a complete shame and disgrace to Scottish hospitality.

This hotel is a scam - do not book. No access instructions provided, no confirmation from hotel, no contact phone number. Info provided after booking states need to contact hotel over 24hrs before check-in but ******* provided this booking less than 24hrs before check-in. Then the only way to contact hotel is via ******* message which states can take up to 72hrs for response. Turned up and parked in the supposed dedicated parking area but no signage stating for hotel use, and a sign stating for another business only. Hotel building looked run down with no visible access point. Walked round trying any visible door but all unsigned and locked. No visible staff or window to grab their attention. No response to ******* messaging and nobody to phone. Out of pocket not just for this hotel but had to find another hotel at 6pm for that night.

This place could be cool but is currently a dangerous fire trap.

SLUM Absolutely the most run down hotel I have ever seen. Should not be operating. Staff terrible - awful place.

Terrible - place was closed - dark and dismal when we arrived at 8pm -would not stay there if you paid me! Couldn't get a refund and it felt.like we were just ripped.off. The place first tried to claim we arrived at 11 pm and booking app didn't help at all either - stay away !

water leaking all over the place had to slam the door two or three times to close would not let a dog stay in there. cheaked out within the hour found another hotel.fire exit was jamed shut sould not be open.

The hotel was locked up and looked derelict. Our booking had been cancelled just before arrival but we managed to find the owner at his other property who was obliging enough, and where rooms were provided. The Queensberry needs major investment and is not the best choice.

Disgusting rooms that are absolutely filthy, very few of the things they offer are actually true. Hotelier is rude, arrogant and has severe personal hygiene issues. Woke us up at 2am for our key. Broke down the door next to us. Markings on the door say “I’m watching you”. I’ve been to trading standards as this place deserves to be shut down.
