Dunhuang Ruoyue Meisu

A truly delightful stay! 🤩 The courtyard setting is lovely and very peaceful, and the room was spotless. Even the toiletries were brand-name. The owner, a wonderful lady, was so nice; whenever she saw us heading out, she'd tell us to grab water, drinks, and snacks from the front desk. The butler, a young man, was also incredibly enthusiastic. On the day we left, we had to check out before breakfast, but they still packed us steamed buns, fried dough sticks, and yogurt to go! All in all, my parents and I were extremely satisfied with our stay. Wishing the owner great success and a booming business!

This guesthouse is absolutely fantastic, and this is my second time staying here! Three years ago, I came to Dunhuang with my boyfriend specifically for a trip, and this time, on our Qinghai-Gansu grand loop, I decisively chose this guesthouse again. The previous days of our trip were quite exhausting, and staying here offered a much-needed period of rest and relaxation. Chatting with the volunteers at the guesthouse made me feel young again. After three years, I finally got to enjoy the guesthouse's much-missed breakfast again (Guilin rice noodle style!). The owner was as kind and welcoming as ever, and the staff provided attentive and thoughtful service. The guesthouse's overall environment is spotlessly clean and tidy; every corner is meticulously kept. The complimentary bottled water and toiletries are brands I really like, with excellent quality, and the toothbrush is especially good – the attention to detail is truly impressive. The overall living experience was perfect: quiet, comfortable, and full of great ambiance. It's particularly suitable for both short trips and longer stays, offering excellent value for money. I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone!

This place has a wonderful rustic charm. The cottage, complete with a picket fence, felt incredibly cozy and quiet. The occasional dog barks at night even transported me back to a carefree age. The owner was incredibly thoughtful, providing a very detailed travel guide. The front desk offered a wide selection of complimentary fruits and drinks. The spacious courtyard, shaded by lush green trees, offered wonderfully fresh air. It was incredibly pleasant to enjoy a cup of tea and chat there in the afternoon or evening. The best part was its excellent proximity to the central gate of the Mingsha Mountain Scenic Area. This is especially ideal for those planning to attend the open-air starry sky concert in the evening. A small tip: after the concert, tens of thousands of people exit the scenic area, making taxis and public transport incredibly difficult to catch. Even driving yourself out can be a challenge. But I could just casually stroll back to my accommodation, which made me incredibly happy!

We were incredibly fortunate to book such a wonderful B&B as Ruoyue. Our entire family, from the youngest to the oldest, was deeply touched by the people here. In most hotels, we simply assess whether the management is good or not. But at Ruoyue, we truly felt that running this establishment is the owners' life pursuit and passion. It felt like every single detail, from the rooms and common areas to the service, was meticulously thought through. It's that kind of genuinely human-centered and empathetic consideration, never pretentious or showy. We met three of the owners, young individuals who are full of kindness, patience, and remarkable attention to detail. They completely lacked the commercialism and materialism I often encounter in tourist spots; instead, they radiated a love for life and heartfelt care for their guests. Staying here, I instantly felt life was beautiful, and I was completely content with everything around me. Even though we were traveling, it felt more comfortable and peaceful than being at home. I won't elaborate on the specific services, as many other guests have already mentioned them—for instance, the exceptionally quiet, beautiful, and spotless rooms; the charming courtyard with flowers and plants; the orchard and adorable small animals; convenient airport transfers; and on clear, cloudless nights, they even took us stargazing and provided explanations (the young man/woman who guided us seemed very knowledgeable about stars, though stargazing does depend on luck and good weather). Also, the incredibly delicious and sweet seasonal local fruits (some from their own orchard), and the daily freshly-made delightful breakfast prepared by the auntie, and so much more. I believe these specific services are secondary; they might vary slightly with the weather, season, or specific circumstances. However, the hosts' genuine attitude remains constant. It's these wonderful young people who make us all want to return and stay longer. (Finally, a few extra notes: 1) They have a good selection of books available at the front desk for reading during your free time. 2) The hosts and aunties here simply strive to make our trip enjoyable; no one asked us for a positive review. 3) The pillows and beds are incredibly comfortable. 4) The toiletries provided are of excellent quality.)

Feeling a bit apprehensive, I blindly booked Ruoyue for our first visit to Dunhuang. However, the genuine warmth and hospitality at Ruoyue immediately put me at ease. Every day before we left, they'd remind us to help ourselves to unlimited snacks and drinks. They also have an adorable cat named Xiaoxiong, which my daughter absolutely loved. And it was a thoughtful touch that my husband could smoke in the courtyard!

Our whole family unanimously loved our Dunhuang trip, and the guesthouse experience was truly exceptional. The two young hostesses treated us like family, even taking us out in the middle of the night to watch meteor showers and the Milky Way. Breakfast was delicious, and considering the dry western climate, fruits, drinks, and yogurt were always amply available. There's also an incredibly affectionate resident Maine Coon kitten that's always around. In the evening, while enjoying tea and petting the cat in the courtyard, you can even catch sight of a camel caravan trotting home from work. My daughter excitedly found a 'Yan Yun Sixteen Voices' boundary marker (a game reference)! The young host, a fellow enthusiast, even joked that 'lighting it up' would grant an 'instant teleport' to Hexi.

By the last leg of our Hexi Corridor journey, we were quite exhausted. We didn't expect this guesthouse to offer such a wonderful reprieve. Everyone at the guesthouse was incredibly warm and welcoming. They chatted with us enthusiastically, offered travel tips, and even reminded us to grab extra water, snacks, and fruit from the front desk whenever we headed out. They even organized a late-night stargazing session for us! What's more, the guesthouse's decor was truly beautiful – thoughtfully arranged and aesthetically pleasing. A quick glance at the guesthouse next door immediately highlighted the superior quality here. It just goes to show, the service industry truly thrives on attention to detail.

The owner was incredibly warm and hospitable, offering excellent service. At night, he even personally drove us to a fantastic spot for stargazing. The B&B is conveniently located just a 10-minute walk from the Mingsha Mountain Middle Gate, allowing you to watch the camel trains head out for their daily treks in the morning. Our room was clean and perfectly comfortable. They provided a very generous selection of complimentary fruits, drinks, and snacks, and we were even allowed to take a good portion of them with us when we checked out. This place is definitely highly recommended!
