The Stags Head Inn

After visiting NT s Dunster castle we walked out back entrance to have a stroll around the village and just across the street was The Stags Head Inn….What a super little traditional Westcountry Pub run by friendly smiley Midlanders. A range of lunches were available as was a variety of homemade pies served with the Landladies Special gravy…….our group sampled most of them ,vegetarian included…I m not sure if Michelin do 5 Stars for Pie&Gravy…. But try them out for yourself!

We stumbled in the door with two large Labradors in tow and were given a very warm welcome, even though we caused havoc! Its a great traditional pub with a homemade snacks menu and I can thoroughly recommend the home made Spicy Parsnip Soup with crusty bread, a real winter warmer.

Run by new owners, the welcome here was incredibly warm. They are planning to do food and accommodation in the future which I look forward to enjoying on a future visit. Meanwhile, it’s a good pub to drop into for a drink - they have a lovely alcohol free cider available as well as the usual range of beers etc

Just spent a couple of days at the Stags Head in Dunster. Under new management super friendly staff and fantastic choice of beers. They are in the process of upgrading the kitchen so will soon be offering food. Nigel & Jane made us feel so welcome. I am sure they will make you just as welcome. Daz & Gail

We were made very welcome by the staff and it was dog friendly, a proper pub serving good beer. I believe it’s only recently been taken over but they are doing a grand job, if they start doing food it will be even better!

Visited a couple of times whilst staying in Dunster and received such a warm welcome. Recently taken over by new owners, they aren't doing food (yet) but were happy for us to bring in a picnic / order a takeaway. Great live music, dog friendly, and a nice beer garden, too. Thank you!

Beautiful historic Hotel. Quaint, quirky, packed full of character. If you are looking for a soulless chain hotel experience don't go here! If you want lovely service, great friendly staff with an oldy woldy atmosphere this is the place for you. We didn't have evening meal so can't comment on that but the breakfast was lovely and all made with local ingredients. Pauline couldn't do enough for us. Our room even had a priest hole in it and an historic painting. Photo's below.

Very friendly staff lovely food the best local pub food I have had in Somerset by far lovely little pub / restaurant recemead you to go there if your are around the minehead area very nice people who work there

The stag Inn pub was amazing. Staff excellent and welcoming. Food highly recommend the hunters chicken and steak. Drink was a local ale called "Exmoor ale" 10/10 an absolute must to visit If in Dunster, Somerset.
