Delta Hotels by Marriott Durham Royal County

Even though I'm a Marriott member, I often book Marriott hotels overseas through Ctrip because it's significantly cheaper than the Marriott app, usually saving me at least £50... This really shows how inflated Marriott's direct prices are. GHA, on the other hand, is the opposite; I almost never book through Ctrip because booking directly with GHA often gets me a two-category room upgrade, free breakfast, and executive lounge access by default. Durham – I apologize for my ignorance, but I only discovered this charming little town when I passed through it by train this time. I made a special trip to stay one night in Durham on my way back from Alnwick. Choosing the Delta Durham was undoubtedly a very smart decision. Outside my window, I had views of the old street, the bridge, and the castle. All the beautiful sights were within walking distance. For the train station, just Uber it, no need to think twice. This is an old building, so you shouldn't expect it to be like a modern office-building hotel; its location and views are paramount.

The atmosphere is nice and relaxed, not chaotic. It's close to the university, so there are many places to walk around.

Even though the hotel is a bit old and the furniture is dated, it's very clean and well-maintained. It's only a few minutes' walk to the city center, and the view from the hotel window is lovely.

The toilet seat was dirty, and the facilities were quite old. The faucets had separate hot and cold water taps, which were a bit difficult to use. When someone walked past the door, the floor inside would creak loudly. Breakfast and the environment were decent.

The surrounding scenery is beautiful, and it's also a filming location for Harry Potter.

The room is spacious, and the location is excellent, very close to the city center. The bathroom is also large. It was very comfortable for my friend and me. Highly recommend for friends traveling together.
