The Avenue

Room was clean and comfortable, staff were really friendly and helpful. The bar had a cosy, comfy friendly local feel about it. The only thing I can mention negatively is that ******* has the walking time to Durham down incorrectly. I think they meant it is a 13 minute drive not a 13 minute walk. This was no fault of the place where we were staying. It still wasn't a problem though, there is a bus stop straight across the road and an uber cost under £10. We didn't have food there because we'd already eaten, but there was plenty of choice on the menu all at a good price. We would definitely stay again

We stayed here after a really long drive, in advance of a day at Durham University. We didn’t really use any facilities as we arrived late and left early but it was great value and the pub downstairs seemed to have a warm, friendly atmosphere.

A lovely hotel. Very nice staff. Very clean. Lovely rooms. Well priced. Just a bit far out of the city centre without any local shops ect around if you needed anything

Room was nice and comfortable. However, the location is listed wrong, this is not in Durham but a 5 minute drive out the city. Also, double check if your room includes breakfast as all correspondence said we had breakfast included but the ******* booking did not.

Firstly, the location in the ********** app is different to the postcode. Staff were incredibly friendly, from check-in, the breakfast, to check-out. Bathroom could do with a really deep clean, likewise tea and coffee station

Can't rate the hotel room or facilities itself because we didn't end up staying due to a family emergency. However I can rate the customer service, which we found to be poor, since they ignored multiple emails in advice of our stay advising of this.

All the staff were super friendly and helpful from Caitlin behind the bar, Chef and Lisa who served us breakfast.

First night in UK, came back to room. Slipped on ice immediately in front of hotel. No salt. Limited light. Sprained both wrists, numb palms and fingertips. Also hurt knee and shoulder. Settled into room, nobody at front desk. Was there for an hour and all power went out approx. 10:30 pm. Power did not come back on AT ALL first evening. NEXT MORNING -NO POWER. Tried to cancel my stay for second night and phone number provided was not in service. Walked out and booked another location in Durham. Brutal.

Perfect for what I needed. Fast and reliable wifi, nice and friendly staff.
