The hotel is clean and is still going through improvements and updates , meeting rooms are in the process of development. My overnight stay and breakfast came to just under £40. It isn’t the Ritz but for the price I paid it was worth the money. My room was comfortable and warm all the amenities worked well and the dinning room was clean and spacious. The location is right in the seafront and parking is plentiful. However the biggest asset for this hotel is the staff , they were helpful and knew their jobs well. As I suggested it’s not 5 star but for the money I wasn’t disappointed.

Upon reading past reviews, we wasn't expecting much, we arrived on the first day of the hotel reopening, well, partial reopening, and must say, compared to the images online, the hotel is on another level, smarter, clean, lovely furnishings. We was the first in the room, first to use the new furniture, first to use the new really big smart tv. When we arrived, we was greeted by the Manager, Ashley, who explained everything so clearly to us, from what's happening in the hotel, what we booked, what we can do, and the local area. A little slow to start with, but wasn't his fault, apparently a new system was implemented and he was training another staff member, we was happy to wait as we did arrive the moment they reopened their doors. Also, the team are lovely, friendly and very accommodating, nothing was too little or too big. Breakfast was amazing, pastries, yoghurt, cheese, beverages, fruit etc, again we was hosted on by Ashley, and guess what.....we was checked out by Ashley too, smooth checkout, he asked us how our stay was and wished us a good day, what an asset he is, and such a friendly and funny gentleman. We will definitely recommend and return. Do not worry about negative reviews, we really enjoyed our stay here.

Currently being used for other occupants who are more important than normal population. Remember this in 2025 when you look at this hotel for a stay . Eastbourne is lovely look elsewhere for a normal pop hotel.

We booked this hotel in 2021 with a view to travelling there in July 2022. However two weeks before we were due to travel I received an email saying that our stay was being cancelled and no apologies or explanation was given. I booked elsewhere and when we went to Eastbourne , we saw that it was closed to the general public and was obviously being used for other reasons. Absolutely shameful that they held onto our booking for so long only to cancel at the last minute, as they were obviously waiting to see whether the government would keep paying to house the residents who were staying there at that time. This caused us to have to try to book somewhere at the last minute, no consideration from the Citrus for our travelling party, the inconvenience or plans even though we had booked almost a year in advance. The Citrus might be the best hotel in the world when it opens to the public again, but I would avoid it at all costs given the way we were treated - and who is to say that it’d never happen again?

You can't book this hotel as its currently being used for something else. There was alot ouside the other night as the fire alarm had gone off. Two security guards were trying to keep them under control. A waisted hotel with such a prime location on the sea front.

My 78-year old mother booked and paid for a room in full two years ago so she could attend the Rothesay Tennis Championships in Eastbourne. Yesterday, with less than 2 months notice, the hotel cancelled her stay without a reason. Now she can't find a room in Eastbourne anywhere for less than £700. How is it possible to cancel someone's booking, which had previously been confirmed and paid for, at short such short notice for such a big event? No doubt the hotel decided they could make more money selling it to a couple or someone else now that the tournament is going ahead. Absolutely appalling business practices!

The hotel was care worn and rather shabby, the view was fine and it was possible to see the sea but the window wouldn't quite shut properly and thus the room was cold, the bed was lumpy and the room was very low grade

The staf were excellant. BUT Pai t coming of walls. The lift was scary and parts of the lift door was missing. The paint work all over the hotel was terrible. We stayed from the Friday till Sunday. First room we was in, my husband pulled the curtain closed and the rail fell off the wall. Bathroom was dirty and there was marks on the towels. Was moved to another room. Beds were so hard I could not sleep and the duvet cover was damaged. The heating was not working and I was frozen. The bath was chipped and the shower ran hot and cold with no steady flow. At the bottom of the toilet under the water was stained brown. First breakfast was really awful, but second looked and tasted 100% better. They did not come into the room to change towels or make beds all the time we was there. First morning we were woken up by building workers Sadly I not go back.

only the name of the hotel is nice. cold rooms, dirty carpet, stewed sink, you have to ask them to turn on the heating, they answer that someone said it was hot. I do not recommend this hotel. I give -3 stars.
