Great
YYunduanderizi21A very traditional, elegant, ancient and solemn hotel, the overall feeling is very good!
The location is very convenient. After exiting the Waverley train station, you can reach the hotel in less than 5 minutes on foot. The entrance is very eye-catching. It's just a big uphill walk, and it will be a bit strenuous if you push a large piece of luggage. It only takes 20 minutes to walk from the hotel to the castle.
The hotel lobby is very traditional, and the characteristic bonfire hall seems to have entered Santa Claus's home. The lady at the front desk is very enthusiastic and introduced the various facilities in the room in detail. Because Scotland is still quite cold, I didn't feel it when I turned on the heating in the room to the maximum. In the morning, a traditional English breakfast on the first floor of the hotel is absolutely amazing. There is a western restaurant with candlelight dinner next to the hotel, where you can enjoy a sweet world for two! 😍😍
GGuest UserAmazing staff. Friendly people and always addressed me as sir even though I am really young. That was really professional of them. One of the persons was an elderly man and he addressed me as sir even though I am wayyyy younger than him. That was really nice and humble of him. Truly appreciate it.
Breakfast was amazing. Lots of food choices and tasty food. Location is brilliant. The room I had was overlooking princes street and the view was amazing. The room was also very clean and well maintained.
Perhaps the only thing that can be improved is ventilation in the bathroom as there was no extractor fan (or maybe I didn’t know how to use it xd) the air conditioning too kept turning off after every 45 mins which was slightly annoying but the hotel had provided me with a fan in my room so no major issues anyway.
Overall it was a great experience and would definitely recommend
WWashyourbluesawayGreat location being walking distance to everywhere. 10/15 to Victoria street/royal mile. 2 mins to haymarket and where the airlink bus drops off. Close to lots of bars, restaurants, coffee shops, supermarket. Friendly & welcoming staff. Good continental breakfast with lots to offer all very yummy. Very clean although basic small rooms it’s all you need for a little weekend away. Pillows are abit hard and no fridge in the room or tea/coffee makers (but they have that in the lobby). Overall impressed with the hotel & I would stay again.
EEve.GWe had a wonderful 3-night stay at Courtyard by Marriott Edinburgh! The location is ideal, within walking distance to key attractions like Calton Hill, Princes Street, and the Royal Mile, yet tucked away just enough to offer a quiet, restful atmosphere.
The room was clean, modern, and well-equipped for a comfortable stay. We especially appreciated the comfortable bed and spacious layout, which made it easy to relax after a day of exploring the city.
The staff were friendly, professional, and always ready to assist, from smooth check-in to helpful recommendations on places to visit and eat. The overall service was consistent and welcoming throughout our stay.
GGuest UserThe hotel's location near the train station is a huge plus, making transport incredibly convenient. We received attentive service, and the breakfast was quite good. However, Google Maps gave misleading directions, which led me to carry my luggage up five flights of stairs. It turns out there's an elevator, but it's not clearly marked with the hotel's logo, making it challenging for first-time visitors to find.
AAlvinBA Great Stay with Excellent Amenities
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5 stars)
Title: Clean, Comfortable, and Convenient
I had a wonderful stay at the Holiday Inn Edinburgh. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making the check-in process smooth and welcoming.
The room was exactly what I needed—spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The bed was a dream to sleep in after a long day of sightseeing, and I really appreciated the in-room amenities like the tea and coffee facilities. The bathroom was also spotless and well-maintained.
One of the major highlights for me was the hotel's location. It was perfect for my needs, being a short drive from the city center and conveniently close to local attractions like the Edinburgh Zoo. The availability of free on-site parking was a huge bonus and made traveling by car stress-free.
I also had a great experience using the hotel's facilities. The indoor pool and fitness center were both clean and well-equipped, providing a relaxing way to unwind. The breakfast offered a good variety of hot and cold options, and the quality of the food was excellent.
While my overall experience was fantastic, there was a minor issue with the Wi-Fi in the room, which was a bit slow at times. However, this was a small inconvenience and didn't significantly impact my stay.
All in all, the Holiday Inn Edinburgh is a fantastic choice for anyone visiting the city. Its combination of comfortable rooms, excellent amenities, and friendly staff makes it a great value for money. I would happily stay here again and would highly recommend it to friends and family.
GGuest UserThe building was good and the view was great; it was the best part of staying this hotel. Unfortunately room service was so bad. We stayed there 4nights; first we thought maybe they just hovered the room because the room wasn’t cleaned. Next day it was same so I told it to reception and then finally next day they cleaned it.. but again it wasn’t a full cleaning (they didn’t hover or clean the dust; just tidy the room and clean bathroom) So I can say room cleaning service is a disaster. But I also want to add reception stuff were helpful and friendly. Last thing hotel needs a quick make up; especially bathrooms are very old.
GGuest UserThe time required to walk from the train station to the hotel is about 20 mins.
There are some stores near the hotel.
There are 2 floors for the hotel. We live in a room on the 1st floor. The size is decent and the equipment is sufficient. However, the window is at the height of a peoples's head. The people outside can easily look into the room and privacy is a issue.
Also, there are some problems in the bathroom. The light in the bathroom is automatic and this is a disadvantage. When I sit on the toilet, the sensor in the bathroom cannot detect my movement and will turn the light off every minute. It will be a lot better if I can switch the lights on manually. Also, the method of changing the temperature of the shower is very unhuman.
Overall, it is a fine aparthotel but there are some problems
TThiagodzzz”My stay at Safestay Edinburgh Cowgate was excellent in every aspect. The location is perfect for exploring the city on foot, close to historic sites and lively areas. The dorm and shared bathroom were clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help with recommendations or questions. The facilities were comfortable and suited solo travelers very well, with a safe atmosphere that made it easy to meet other guests. Overall, I highly recommend this hostel for anyone visiting Edinburgh, especially solo travelers looking for convenience, cleanliness, and great service.”
GGuest UserEverything was good etc but £30 for two double vodka a thought was a bit expensive also the lemonade wasn’t rite no gas inn it so took them back up asked for replacement with maybe a can of sprite rather than draft after she tasted both yes the alcohol and then the draft separate she then only offered me a can to top up on top of the original not tasting rite double vodkas at that price and still never helped as that weird taste was still there 👎🏻
