Sometimes, the most impulsive decisions turn out to be the best. I was out with my two friends for the evening and after dinner decided we wanted to end the night with a few drinks. We found a couple of the local bars were too busy, but on crossing the road we were delighted to see that The Wine House was open for business again (and has been, apparently, since the end of last year). We were greeted by Marco, the bar manager, who was very courteous and seated us quickly. While we were debating what to drink he advised on options, including the Friday Prosecco deal which was great value. The evening turned out to be a memorable one for a good number of reasons. We met another group of friends visiting the bar who we started to chat to, and it turns out that they had extensive knowledge of the whisky industry. The evening turned into an impromptu spirits tasting session, with great chat and banter. I'd like to note that Marco was at all times, very helpful and accomodating despite our often odd choices in drinks (not wine!) The evening got busier and the place still has a great vibe. The 1821 bar has an extensive range of Italian wines, beautiful and stylish surrounds, and attentive service. I'd recommend to anyone looking for a relaxed, but lively place to meet friends (old and new) then visit The Wine House. Many thanks, Jill.

Went in for one drink, stayed for the night thanks to Lara. Great hostess and dead on with her wine recommendations. Was a lovely space to be in and lots of choice. Thanks Lara, will definitely be back.
