Hanover House Hotel

Staying at Hanover House was a top tier experience! First of all, the location is about the best you can get. You are truly right in the middle of everything, for a fabulous price. No Uber or taxi needed! Literally walk to EVERYTHING. Probably best thing about it. The guest house is very simple, old and authentically Scottish in experience, with its expansive 15 ft ceilings and old Victorian charm. Jasmine is a fabulous hostess, with the most nurturing and warm presence. She cooks you breakfast downstairs in her kitchen, and her food is true Scottish in fare and options. She’ll even make you a Haggis!

Good rooms Rooms were well furnished and (most importantly) very clean. The bed felt great to sleep on, and the bathrooms are modern. The rooms are of a large size and are wonderfully comfortable. Great weather you’re spending an hour or a day in your room! Good food The breakfast is absolutely brilliant, with a fairly wide selection of options. The atmosphere fostered by the design of the dining room is wonderful, and is a great way to start every day you’re in Edinburgh. Good service We arrived late for check-in due to bad weather delays, but we still received an incredibly warm welcoming. Additionally, post-check-out assistance remained top-notch. Overall, Jasmin is one of the warmest, friendliest proprietors I’ve met. I would definitely return here again!!

Jasmin owns this historic 1800's house hotel. It is on a very quiet street with a few other small hotels not far from Princes street and a lot of action, but the only night we heard anything was Dec. 29 when a street band was playing to celebrate, but the music ended at 10:00pm. Jasmin is very responsive to emails and very fair with pricing even though it was the very busy New Year celebration time/Hogmanay! Her breakfasts are home cooked with egg, bacon, sausage, and toast. She also puts out a variety of cereals, fruit, and yogurt. We stayed in a room that actually had three separate beds. I had searched the city centre for 3 separate beds and only found a few places. It was less than 15 minutes to walk down to the Christmas Market, which was one of the better ones that we experienced in the UK. (London"s were disappointing). We were surprised at the size of the room because the picture looked much smaller. She has 5 rooms, I believe that she rents. We were in number 4. The shower water was hot and the mirror for makeup can be well lit. It was a very pleasant stay, and we would definitely go back!

Absolutely recommend this hotel. The staff are so friendly and helpful and lady of the house did great breakfast (even for me the vege)plenty of alternative choices for breakfast if didn’t want a cooked one. It was a pleasure to stay there. The room was good value for money and quiet at night time despite location being less than ten minutes walk from train station /royal mile and other attractions. The room itself always had hot water and clean towels and bedding. Book you won’t be disappointed
