My wife and I just returned from a magnificent trip to Edinburgh. When we arrived, we had to fight through rowdy school children at the bus stop, but the proprietor promptly contacted the police and laid down the law! We entered the property through regal double gates, to a velvet cut lawn and hedges which had been manicured to perfection! The check in was seamless. We easily sourced a key and helped ourselves in. No security was needed when the proprietors had such close ties with the police. The room was spacious and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud! The room had the latest hi-tech shading, it was almost as if you wouldn’t know they were there! The shower was divine and we were treated like royalty with our own floor and private bathroom. Our stay included a brief visit from the Prince of Stockbridge, who is a passionate foodie. Not only is he a charming, but his haircut was true class. The hospitality was so good that it felt as if we had known the proprietors for years. We gave this booking 4* stars over 5, for two reasons: Firstly and less significantly, Parking was extortionate. We were sprung with an additional parking fee at last minute, so we cancelled our plans of bringing our Rolls Royce phantom and instead flew and took a bus (where we encountered the troublesome local youths). Most significantly - breakfast!! - It was just all over the place. On Friday it was closed by 8am, Saturday it was 7am and Sunday it didn’t start until after we left, but they were cooking a beautiful fresh breakfast as we were leaving just to rub it in! Our overall stay was sensational and we love the proprietors and home they’ve opened up to us - thank you team!!
