Cruachan Guest House

Stayed in room 1 lovely and clean with everything you need for your stay. Host was friendly and welcoming. Lovely cooked breakfast. 10 mins on a bus to the castle/ mile but could easily walk in 20. I Would stay here again if visiting Edinburgh.

A nothing special B&B with an owner who it appears could not care less if his guests are satisfied. We switched rooms as the first on the second floor had no heating. The next room on the first floor had heating from a single unit, but given that room was a large family room, it did not come close to heating it. The stairs from the first to the second floor are spiral and narrow. Care is required when using them. At breakfast, we declined the full eggs, bacon, etc., and asked for just scrambled eggs. We were told that only fried eggs were available, so we declined.

The Cruachan met our needs for a budget hotel and the beds, location and breakfast were fine for us. Our room had 2 twin beds and a queen, but we only used the twins. Bathroom was fine, but we were glad to have brought a nigh light for the step up onto the bathroom. Our room had a refrigerator, table and 2 chairs, and kettle, which were handy to have, as were ordered using door dash a couple of time. Bike delivery drivers were buzzing up and down the street in the rain. Whne the manager learned we were leaving for the airport at 6:30 , he made a special trip to go out and get items for a cold breakfast for us, which he delivered to our door at 7:30 PM. That was a nice unexpected gesture was a very nice gesture.

Basic rooms, budget place to stay near town. 15 walk away from Haymarket tram station and short walk into town. The shower was not very powerful in the family room and you will need time to set the temperature of the shower as it became very hot to shower in. There was mini soap, shower gel and shampoo provided. They cleaned the room for the two days we were there. The breakfast is basic but a nice touch was that you can order cooked breakfast. You cannot store luggage here and we didn’t know that so we had to take it with us after checking out at 10am. It was on a fairly quite street but because the window are old you can hear cars going past. If you don’t mind basic, budget place to stay then this is fine otherwise go somewhere else if you expect more. There is nothing fancy about this place as it’s very old building but it’s in a good location. There used to be no wardrobe only a coat rack with some hangers in the room. Hairdryer inside the bedside table.

Warm, friendly and welcoming. The Excellent host, Mobeen produced a very nice breakfast and the location of the property is nice and quiet compared to others I have stayed at. Private bathroom over the hall was clean and everything worked okay. My room was a decent size for my two night stay, good facilities.

We stayed for a couple of nights and it's been a great experience. The room was large and comfortable and the attention made us feel right at home. Breakfast was super complete and filling. 100% would recommend.
