Malmaison Edinburgh City

This trip was a last-minute decision, and I unexpectedly chose this hotel… mainly because it's just 500 meters from the train station. But surprisingly, this hotel is absolutely the most noteworthy in Edinburgh city center; the tranquility at night ensures a restful and comfortable sleep. Highly recommended!

The hotel was a bit old-fashioned, but very clean and tidy, and in a great location. We didn't take any transportation in Edinburgh; we walked the whole time. Hotels in Edinburgh are generally expensive, so considering convenience and comfort, this hotel offered excellent value for money.

The hotel is quite large and in a great location, but our room was probably cheaper, so it was on the first floor with a direct view of the street, meaning the curtains couldn't be opened. Also, Edinburgh is notoriously difficult to get to; the reception desk is actually on the fourth floor, and there's no elevator to the first floor, so we had to carry our luggage down ourselves, which was inconvenient. Furthermore, the hotel's soundproofing was poor; we could hear the loud shower noise from next door. Also, the bright red door, combined with the LED strip lighting and the hallway outside, gave it a creepy, movie-like feel. The portrait paintings in the room also didn't feel very auspicious.
