A must stay hotel in Edinburgh! The room is beautiful, and the photos are particularly impressive! Lots of antique-feeling velvet upholstery, but clean. The room is in the building opposite the front desk, and the only way to get to the room is through stairs. However, when checking in, the staff helped deliver the luggage to the room and gave welcome chocolates. We chose to eat breakfast in the room. The variety was relatively simple. The fruits were not sweet and not particularly fresh. It might be better to eat in the restaurant. All in all, I am very satisfied, the price is higher but worth the money! recommend!

Magnificent. I felt like royalty. Stayed in the Guardsman Suite which is across from the Witchery Restaurant. Entrance is next to the store through a little gated alley. Everything is beautifully designed and lit. The champagne and chocolate every day was a treat. I swear elves must’ve managed our room because i never saw anyone but whenever we returned to the room, the shades were appropriately up or down, our bed tidied, water replenished… On the last day we had to leave early and they offered to supply a hamper of breakfast delivered to our room at 5:30am-nice. Breakfast a la carte was wonderful. The avocado toast was the best Ive had and breakfast by tall lit tapers was a delight. Service was perfect. The heated tiles and towel warmer in the bathroom were a nice touch. The towels were delicious, as you’d expect. The soaking tub was a delight for me as it was the deepest Ive ever experienced and I love soaking. Water temp was fine. My husband had difficulty with the shower aspect as getting in and out was really tough and there was no place to set your essentials (eg phone, facial wash, etc) so that was tricky. Anyone with mobility issues will find this suite difficult as the tub and walking up the many stories of narrow windy stairs are a challenge. My only suggestion is related to the unpleasant odor. Its noticeable as soon as you arrive, though you adjust. I realize it is an ancient building but this could easily be managed with some lovely scented potpourri. The worst emanated from the toilet which constantly smelled unpleasant. It made it difficult to perfectly enjoy soaking . Otherwise-perfect!

Stayed in The Turret for our wedding anniversary, this is our 4th stay and now my favourite of the Suites. Spacious and comfortable, with everything you could need. Check in is from 14.30 and we were shown up the 3 flights of stone spiral stairs to the most amazing suite. Champagne, sparkling and still water were chilling in the ice bucket. Tea and coffee station with fresh milk in the fridge, chocolates, crisps and cookies are provided. The sitting area has a TV and a selection of seats to relax in. The bathroom is beautiful, large central bath, 2 sinks and a separate area with a loo and shower for two. Plenty of warm fluffy towels and lovely toiletries. The bedroom area is large and extremely comfortable. Another TV hidden in the wall, large dining table and lovely touches like the Dyson hairdryer and hair straighteners. We opted for the continental breakfast to be delivered, it did not disappoint, breads, jams, pastries, yoghurts, selection of cereals, hot drinks and a platter of meat, fruit and cheese. Enough for 4 people! Everything about our stay was fantastic, comfortable, warm and welcoming. Can not wait to try the other suites.

I had heard so much about this restaurant over the years from family and friends that finding myself in Edinburgh I decided to treat myself. It didn’t live up to expectations. I started with the terrine which I thought was overcooked and hard and did not have a good taste, then to the halibut which was the redeeming feature. The desert was uninspiring. Overall I was not impressed with the value or the food.

Where to begin with this review….we have stayed in a lot of top hotels in many countries across the world over the years - from boutique to mountain castles to beaches and cities…but the witchery has to be in the top few of these. It’s simply unique location and style, coupled with the fantastic decor and ambiance make it a global standout. It’s easy to get a bit carried away with a review after a good stay somewhere but this was simply perfection. The restaurant with rooms concept works perfectly in this location, with the suites a fabulous treat for the senses - it really is like a Time Machine taking you back in history, but coupled with all the luxuries and top class service you’d expect in this age. Supper in the original restaurant is a treat not to be missed - the ambiance continues here with a surreal dining room. The gothic style compliments the suites perfectly. The food was excellent and the service was a perfect balance of attentive but discrete - surely it cant be long before the restaurant gets a Michelin star…it’s certainly on a comparable level we’ve experienced with venues that do….. For sure it’s not inexpensive, but for top class global perfection, I’d say it’s worth every penny. So, in all, one of the most memorable all round experiences we’ve had. Thanks to all the Witchery team involved in making it happen - keep doing the same and we’ll be back for more.

My partner, Sam, celebrated his 26th birthday on Monday, and having always dreamt of spending the night in a decadently divine, gothic styled hotel suite, complete with a standalone bathtub; I can confirm surprising him with a night stay in The Vestry most definitely ticked every box we could have hoped for; and so much more!! Every single detail, down to the letter, we could tell had the utmost thought and attention to perfection delivered. Despite not being able to afford this kind of hotel experience very often, but having come from a background working for reputable boutique hotel brands, I felt as though my understanding of expectations and delivery of such, were surpassed in ways I never could have expected. Seeing Sam's face light up with magic on check in is most definitely an experience I'll never forget. The Witchery truly is rooted in mystycism and magic; and we both felt it in the most gloriously transportative way. Never before have either of us had the opportunity and ability to slip away into a carefree alter ego, completely detatched from the realities of home life we planned this trip to escape from. We had dinner in the restaurant Monday night; and my word. What an experience!! It was sensationally divine, and we're still lost for words trying to describe how that meal not just tasted, but felt. I can't thank you, your wondeful staff, and enchanting establishment enough for giving Sam & myself the most magical, mystifying & memorable first visit to Edinburgh. We're already planning our next trip across for June to celebrate my 35th birthday! We've whittled down our favourites, and have decided that The Turrett is next on the list!

As usual, the Magic Garden dining room at The Witchery is a "Magical" experience in Edinburgh. Our server Mackensie found the perfect balance of professionalism, friendliness, and service to create a truly memorable experience. Every aspect of this dinning experience is top notch starting with the reservation booking thru after dinner drinks. This is a must experience for anyone who enjoys the highest quality meal.

I booked the Witchery to celebrate my husbands 50th birthday. The staff where amazing made sure the wished him a happy birthday, when we where shown to our suite as the door was opened we both where in astonishment at the suite, the attention to detail was amazing, the breakfast in the dinning room was out of this world and again the staff where fantastic, nothing was too much bother, helpful and attentive. When we where checking out again the staff thanks us for celebrating with them and offered any other services i.e. taxis ore any other information that was needed, also offered to keep our case so we could walk around Edinburgh without the case. The full experience was outstanding from start to finish and we will certainly be back. Thank you all again for making my husbands big birthday so special.

The Witchery by the Castle offers a range of opulent suites in Edinburgh, each one unique with its own special features. Lavishly furnished suites display gothic touches, with large oak beds and 4-posters, velvet-lined walls and flamboyant red and gold décor indicative of the style. There are separate seating areas and large bathrooms with free-standing silver baths. Each of The Witchery’s 9 suites is different, but walk-in dressing rooms, love seats and tapestries set the tone. Some rooms overlook Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, looking down towards Princes Street, or across to the old town. An indulgent breakfast hamper will be served in the room each morning or guests can choose to have a cooked breakfast served in the restaurant at no extra cost. The Witchery’s seductive glamor has caught the attention of The Times, The Telegraph and Condé Nast Traveler, and many celebrity fans have enjoyed its suites. The impressive restaurant also showcases fine Scottish dishes in similarly decadent surroundings.
