A must stay hotel in Edinburgh! The room is beautiful, and the photos are particularly impressive! Lots of antique-feeling velvet upholstery, but clean. The room is in the building opposite the front desk, and the only way to get to the room is through stairs. However, when checking in, the staff helped deliver the luggage to the room and gave welcome chocolates. We chose to eat breakfast in the room. The variety was relatively simple. The fruits were not sweet and not particularly fresh. It might be better to eat in the restaurant. All in all, I am very satisfied, the price is higher but worth the money! recommend!

Magnificent. I felt like royalty. Stayed in the Guardsman Suite which is across from the Witchery Restaurant. Entrance is next to the store through a little gated alley. Everything is beautifully designed and lit. The champagne and chocolate every day was a treat. I swear elves must’ve managed our room because i never saw anyone but whenever we returned to the room, the shades were appropriately up or down, our bed tidied, water replenished… On the last day we had to leave early and they offered to supply a hamper of breakfast delivered to our room at 5:30am-nice. Breakfast a la carte was wonderful. The avocado toast was the best Ive had and breakfast by tall lit tapers was a delight. Service was perfect. The heated tiles and towel warmer in the bathroom were a nice touch. The towels were delicious, as you’d expect. The soaking tub was a delight for me as it was the deepest Ive ever experienced and I love soaking. Water temp was fine. My husband had difficulty with the shower aspect as getting in and out was really tough and there was no place to set your essentials (eg phone, facial wash, etc) so that was tricky. Anyone with mobility issues will find this suite difficult as the tub and walking up the many stories of narrow windy stairs are a challenge. My only suggestion is related to the unpleasant odor. Its noticeable as soon as you arrive, though you adjust. I realize it is an ancient building but this could easily be managed with some lovely scented potpourri. The worst emanated from the toilet which constantly smelled unpleasant. It made it difficult to perfectly enjoy soaking . Otherwise-perfect!

One of the most enchanting, uniquely beautiful and charming hotels I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. So much attention to detail and James, Stephen and staff were an absolute pleasure to meet. Thank you for such a wonderful stay. Victoria Jenkins

We stayed in the Turret at The Witchery by the Castle and honestly, it felt like stepping into a dream. I’ve always wanted to stay here, so when my boyfriend surprised me for my birthday weekend, it made it even more special. From the moment we walked in, everything felt indulgent and theatrical in the best possible way. The Turret itself is pure romance, rich fabrics, candlelight, and that incredible bath. The bath deserves its own paragraph. It was absolute heaven. The products were beautiful, the atmosphere was perfect, and I was so content sipping champagne while soaking that we actually asked to move our dinner reservation later. The team at The Witchery Restaurant couldn’t have been more accommodating. Nothing was a problem. Dinner was an experience in itself. The food was exceptional and the service made me feel completely spoiled. They even surprised me with a gorgeous birthday dessert and candle, which was such a thoughtful touch and just added to the magic of the evening. We parked at their sister hotel, Prestonfield House, which looked equally stunning, and made use of the complimentary taxi service over to The Witchery. It was seamless and so well organised. This isn’t just a hotel stay, it’s an experience. Romantic, dramatic, indulgent and unforgettable. If you ever get the chance to stay here, take it. I genuinely didn’t want to leave

The most splendid room. Location on the Royal Mile was perfect. The food was exceptional and the staff wonderful. We had continental breakfast both mornings served in our suite, the spread and choice was phenomenal. Perfect choice of accommodation to compliment our fabulous weekend experiencing Edinburgh and the 6 nations game at Murrayfield. What a memorable weekend and atmosphere. We shall return soon without question

What an amazing experience! The service was beyond exceptional you didn’t even notice the wait staff but suddenly your plates were cleared and your glass was refilled. I’m going back to Edinburgh just to go back to the witchery! Not to mention the food was the best I’ve ever had, I’d definitely recommend any fish dish! AMAZING!

Stayed in The Turret for our wedding anniversary, this is our 4th stay and now my favourite of the Suites. Spacious and comfortable, with everything you could need. Check in is from 14.30 and we were shown up the 3 flights of stone spiral stairs to the most amazing suite. Champagne, sparkling and still water were chilling in the ice bucket. Tea and coffee station with fresh milk in the fridge, chocolates, crisps and cookies are provided. The sitting area has a TV and a selection of seats to relax in. The bathroom is beautiful, large central bath, 2 sinks and a separate area with a loo and shower for two. Plenty of warm fluffy towels and lovely toiletries. The bedroom area is large and extremely comfortable. Another TV hidden in the wall, large dining table and lovely touches like the Dyson hairdryer and hair straighteners. We opted for the continental breakfast to be delivered, it did not disappoint, breads, jams, pastries, yoghurts, selection of cereals, hot drinks and a platter of meat, fruit and cheese. Enough for 4 people! Everything about our stay was fantastic, comfortable, warm and welcoming. Can not wait to try the other suites.
