Reviews of Rancho Grande Hostel

The stay at this hostel was good in all. The reception was very nice and helpful. The food was great. Would like to book again if travelling to El Chalten again!

Had a night stay here and it comes with breakfast. Located 20 mins walk from the bus stop and is near to the trails’ entrance.

A bit expensive for a hostel without breakfast, the food in the restaurant is awful.

good hostel, i didnt have any issues

The hostel is very spacious. Dorms have lockers and comfy beds. 2 small kitchens for guests but also you can buy food with discounts in the hostel restaurant ( very good pizza). Staff is very nice and competent. Convenient location. Recommended

The hostel is conveniently located very close to the trailhead, and the dorm room was clean and quiet. The music in the living/dining area played all day. It would be nicer if the volume could be lowered or the music turned off earlier in the morning. It was also unfortunate that someone stole my water bottle, which I had prepared and filled with electrolyte for my hike the next day.

Two bathrooms for each gender. Under the mountains for great views. My luggage didn’t get on the plane somehow but the receptionists at the hostel called many times so I got it the next day from rio to el Cheltan. Food was very good at the 24 hour restaurant and people who stay get a discount.

Cheap and nice

I really liked this hostel; I stayed here again after my camping trip. The hotel restaurant was delicious; it's become my personal canteen. The kitchen was fully equipped, but the refrigerator was a bit messy. It's close to the trailhead; a taxi to the bus center cost 5000 pesos.

I booked one night, planned to stay three more, but I left with pleasure. Very, very noisy. In the building there is a restaurant 24/7 everything is open, a lot of different people, there is no silence in the hostel. A bathroom, toilet and shower are shared for guests of the restaurant on the first floor. The second floor is for those who are in the hostel. But the first floor is also a hostel and you still use it. The restaurant counter is between the tables where people eat in the cafe. The common area is very noisy, you can hear all the noise of the cafe. I was happy to move to a quieter place. On the plus side, there is a store and supermarket nearby, the hostel is located on the main street, but El Chalten itself is not big, so where you live in it does not matter at all. And the staff is very unfriendly. The atmosphere is so-so, I was happy to leave. The light did not work in the women's toilet on the first floor. On the plus side, the bed was made, but the beds squeak a lot.

I'm afraid I might fall because there are no bars on the bunk bed.

The room is tidied up daily, which is excellent.

It is close to the starting point of the trekking, so it is good to be able to arrive quickly when you are tired after trekking. It is operated as a restaurant and has quite a lot of rooms, so they manage it well, but it was a bit disappointing because there were so many people. Overall, I am satisfied.

Overall, it was a great experience!
