Hotel Playa Sur Tenerife

I was very disappointed in my stay here, everything was fine until I got to my room. I was given a not renovated room when I went back downstairs I was told that the double room I booked means it’s not renovated. Where in heck does it say that when I book a double room it means not a renovated room. It doesn’t say anywhere also that renovations were being done to the hotel. You can’t trick customers into believing they are getting a certain room then give them the complete opposite and tell them it’s their fault. There’s no way I would have known the difference between a double room and a superior unless specified on the website. Furthermore I packed my bags and moved to another hotel because there was no more rooms available. I offered to pay the extra 50€ to upgrade my room, but even then I was upset because I was the one who got played. I’m still waiting for my refund since the lady at the counter said she couldn’t do it on the spot. This wouldn’t be a big deal if you tell your customers before hand that certain rooms are not renovated. I attached my room photos and please look at the website for the pictures y’all have posted

The personal was very friendly and helpful, the Hito Restaurant was wonderful. The breakfast could be better, the fried eggs looks like they had an accident and very greasy. The way they fried the ham were made without love.

We had great stay. From the minute we arrived…the desk staff were very welcoming and friendly…to the minute we left, where the desk staff ordered us a taxi. Our room was on the third floor and was one of the older style. Not a problem…bed make up service and bathroom clean everyday. Impressed by the speed of response to our broken toilet seat…informed in morning was fixed by the time we returned early afternoon. The bed itself was very comfortable but neither my husband or I liked the long shaped pillow. The pool area was lovely, never a problem getting a lounger. Breakfast was great, good and plentiful selection…excellent coffee (Lavazza). We really enjoyed the chilled vibe of the resort and loved the hotel. Thank you, we will definitely be back!

Paid booking . Come to reserve sea view room When arrived got the lowest down room 12 It had a side sea view if you stood on the bed The view had a building to the left an obstruction wall to right and electrical wires bolted on to walit had a surf shop below obscuring. View When challenged the management we told them our complaints about the view which was also blocked with balcony and were told that’s your opinion not mine, that’s not right for managers to act like that Booking. Com did nothing to help customer of 40 years, when it comes to money attitudes change They offered us a goodwill 25 which we refuse we should. have had the 100 difference on room with no view so we got nothing as 40 years with them means nothing so will not use again Restaurant opened at 8 and all breakfast eggs et c cold but plenty fresh fruits. and yogurts Pool bar did not open to 12.30 and no entertainment Seafood at the hotel restaurant not defrosted and cold which we returned Avoid this hotel the Médano hotel so much better

I’ve stayed at Playa Sur several times and continue to enjoy it - the high wall surrounding the pool shelters it from the high winds for which it is famous in surfing communities and allows sunbathing- the mix of mature guests and young windsurfers works well and the restaurant is superb- brekky best I’ve had in a *** hotel

Despite mixed reviews on trip advisor. We stayed in the superior double rooms that had recently been renovated. The rooms were clean and the decor was neutral. The staff were helpful and the breakfast decent. The location is great: close to the airport but not so close that you can hear the planes. The beach is next to the hotel and some rooms have a balcony with a sea view. There's some nice restaurants around.

Lovely little hotel at the far end of town. The refurbished rooms are lovely although no enough storage (no drawers). The old rooms are far too small unless you’re only staying for a couple of nights. Lovely pool area and the most comfortable sun loungers we have ever laid on. Great pool. The staff are lovely, very helpful and accommodating. I would stay again

Great location close to the airport. I had two different rooms on two stays, after arriving at TFS and the night before leaving. One room had a balcony overlooking the boardwalk. The other was overlooking the parking lot and Monta Roja. Noise was not a problem in either. Occasionally, you hear a jet from TFS, but it dies down at night. Rooms are small, as is typical in Europe. Beds were comfortable. No safety rails in shower. One room had no remote for TV, but I did not ask for one. The other had a remote. Many German stations and few English. Breakfast was great except for the line for the coffee machine and the small birds which would fly in and snag your food if you left for a minute. Or the German tourists that would try to snag your clearly saved table while you went to the buffet line. I did not spend time by the pool, but the tourists escaping the cold and wind seemed to enjoy it. A door from the pool area led directly to the El Medano Boardwalk, which had many nice cafes and shops. (See my review of Bliss, where I ate 4 times). A path from the parking lot led directly to the Monta Roja trail, about a 10 minute walk. The restaurant on premises overlooks the beach and the terrace gets quite crowded during the day. The restaurant required reservations, though it never seemed to be full. I had tapas and wine and it was quite affordable and good! Overall, I think this was a great pik cfor staying in El Medano. There were a lot of locals, and it was fun watching the wind and kite surfers!
