Best Five Star Hotels in EL Nido

Our room was very nice, clean and large. The location of the hotel with the private beach was of course the absolute highlight. The staff was super friendly. Kayaks etc. could be borrowed for free, which is also a big plus. Unfortunately, there was only boiled coffee at breakfast, you had to pay extra for the rest - I find it really sad at the price. Likewise, the staff is sometimes very slow. When I sit alone at the pool bar and have to wait 15 minutes for my coke + have to point it out again, it's really a shame.

The environment is very beautiful, the rooms are large, and the facilities are very user-friendly. For example, there is a flushing faucet at the door of the room, so you can rinse the sand off your feet before entering the house. The service is particularly good, every waiter you meet will greet you warmly. Pay attention to needs and provide services at all times while eating. The only downside is that the food in the restaurant is on the salty side. The three dishes I ordered for dinner were all very salty, and all the salty foods at breakfast were also very salty!

My stay at El Nido Resorts Lagen Island was nothing short of extraordinary. The staff's warmth and genuine hospitality were exceptional; they always wore smiles and went above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience. From assisting with ferry bookings to surprising me on my birthday with a beautifully decorated bed and a delightful cake, their thoughtfulness was truly heartwarming. Special thanks to Carell, Jojo, Harnie, John, and Arvin for their outstanding support. The resort's happy vibe upon arrival sets the tone, and you leave with a smile, longing for more. The complimentary tours, seamlessly integrated into the package, were made exceptional by the supportive guides, creating a private and well-timed experience. Opting for the overwater bungalow was a unique and enchanting experience, adding to the paradise that is El Nido Lagen Island. The buffet-style meals offered three times a day were a culinary delight. I wholeheartedly recommend El Nido Resorts Lagen Island for an unforgettable and highly recommended getaway. The hotel is behind a mountain, which means the only way in and out is with their transfers in 4x4, that are absurdly expensive. There is a 3 min path through the forest to a point where a tricycle can pick you up, but you need to call them ahead. The description in booking is not accurate, there is no 6 min walking to el nido, it is more 15 min tricycle + 3 min walking. I would have loved to know this in advance, we travel with kids and would have gone for an easier option. The premium villas are up the mountain, you need to go by funicular, which sometimes is not working due to maintenance issues, then you have to get a car up to your villa, both things you should plan ahead, the funicular operator is not always there, neither the cars. Also the funicular is not working early in the morning. The breakfast is supposed to start at 6 am, which is a reasonable hour if you are planning to go to a tour, but the 3 days that we went at that time, not everything was ready. They picked us up from the airport with a pick up, the luggage was behind in the open and arrived completely covered in dust, the butler tried to clean it but it wasn’t easy. There are several things in the villa that weren’t working properly, like hair dryer, really bad smell in the toilet, dirt in the curtains… but those were small issues, the main issue we had is that in our last night our rooms were full of bugs, they were everywhere and it was impossible to sleep like that with bugs crawling over us, so we moved to a much smaller villa down the mountain and they gave us a discount due to the downgrade. The discount was nice and the staff did their best with the situation, but we lost more than 1 hour trying to kill the bugs to sleep there and also in the morning we had to review all the clothes in the luggage and remove the dead bugs after the fumigation. The pool toilets are out of order and you need to go to a first floor. In summary I don’t think the above is acceptable in a 5 starts hotel with the price they have. The tours were absurdly expensive, but I can’t tell if they were nice because we outsourced.

The resort is in a great location with a small but quiet beach and a nice house reef outside. Beware that some units require walking up a lot of steps and the ones set away from the beach have a lot of mosquitoes around. The staff are super friendly and nice although the service of the hotel could be more attentive i.e when lying on the beach you don’t get asked if you want drinks. Room cleaning was only done once in our 7 day stay and only because we asked for it. Towels are not automatically offered to beach goers all the time. The restaurant is pretty slow with almost an hour for food to arrive sometimes. The food itself can be nice depending on what you order. Some is pretty good actually…others a bit average. Pricewise, this isn’t a cheap hotel and I feel that if you compare the price to resorts in other tropical beach locations around the world, you get much better service in other places like Sheratons, Marriotts and Hiltons etc. that said, overall I would still recommend Matinloc for the great beach and reef.

The environment is beautiful, quiet, suitable for vacation, and there are various activities to participate in. The room is not large, basically there is no network signal, it is not suitable for mobile phones, the TV is not good, and it is suitable for the waves every day. Dining is ok, in general, lunch & dinner is only drunk with free white water. Although the juice and soft drink are not too expensive, but the price is more than 3,000 a night, the drinks are still a bit pit! The beach of the hotel can't be launched into the water. There are good beaches by boat, and there are no people, so most of the photos I upload are beaches that go to sea.

The Karuna resort is a hillside paradise. We loved everything about the resort. The location was central and the views were absolutely stunning. Warning: there are quite a few steep hills and stairs all around the resort. You'll definitely get your workout here, but its so worth it. Our joglo was perfect. Clean and well appointed with modern amenities including comfortable beds, flatscreen TV with Netflix, fast wifi, and AC. There was plenty of room for our family of 3, along with a kitchen and large wraparound deck with views of the bay. It felt like our home away from home. We spent a lot of time at the pool, restaurant, and bar, which happened to be our favorite spots at the resort. The bar has a great happy hour and the restaurant has an extensive menu with lots of variety. One of the best things about Karuna is the staff. Lester, Sarifa, Tiffany, Prince, and Ellen were excellent hosts. They made our stay so wonderful, which made it hard to say goodbye!
