Hotel Casa del Sol

Hotel Casa del Sol

Ensenada|1.45km from city center
Big family trip, we booked several rooms/hotels in area in advance for a big birthday celebration, ours was Casa Del Sol. Drove up to car jam blocking the road, learned their parking is down the street away from the property... As we have young kids in the car, I got out to try to check in to get out of the traffic jam, seemed ok with no one in line at the counter, but the welcome was ”how many kids are with you?” Followed by ”ages?” Next, ”$30 per child per night”... for my 4 year old and 5 month old? ... got better with ”all have to wear these wrist bands your entire stay.” I was agitated with my family still in the car/street with other cars trying to check in blocking the road, being charged $30 per child per night when website clearly states children 6 and under free so I asked for management to explain my frustration and I finally said, ”ok, charge me whatever you want, I just want to park and check in” and the response was...”let's cancel your reservation.” I responded with that is ”unnecessary, again charge me what you need, I just want my kids out of the car.” Ultimately, I was not charged the $30 per child per night, was given the wristbands, but did not have to wear them unless at the pool which we did not go to because we were in the rooms that you have to walk onto the main street to go to away from the main property (try to not get one of those 32-44), cleaning and security staff was very nice and professional, and my family treated well even by the manager who threatened to cancel us (I just no longer wanted to engage after being threatened to have our reservation cancelled; at least it made a funny story for the trip.) If you are ok with parking being down the street and through an alley, a potential $30 per child (which they did not charge), wristbands, avoid rooms 32-44 also down the street (same direction as parking), and don't complain to management because they might threaten to cancel your reservation (definitely opportunity for improvement with hospitality/customer-service training), then this is a very well located and clean hotel with nice cleaning and security staff. Terrible check-in and parking situation, but great location and it's clean... so average rating for the sake of the nice staff? I had hoped for more giving this place a chance, but there are other options in the same area that do have parking, all rooms are onsite, and have never threatened to turn us onto the street if we have concerns.

We had our christmas party at the hotel restaurant and had a spectacular experience. Service was exceptionally marvelous; drinks were laid out and food was served in a modern decor. I highly recommend visiting this hotel with a great view and helpful staff.

Hotel Villa Marina

this is the second time we have stayed at the Villa Marina in recent weeks. the last time the room was terribly run down and the hotel clerk told me each room was only allowed one bottle of water per visit. EVERY HOTEL WE VISIT IN BAJA GIVES FREE WATER. tap water is not drinkable. we own a home in BAJA. we travel regularly to Ensenada and also to Baja Sur (southern Baja). the toilet in the bathroom is located in a tiny little alcove. it is impossible to sit on the toilet correctly. you must sit on the side, not the front. THIS WOULD BE ILLEGAL IN USA. there is a nice little bar in the hotel lobby. we have been there a few times. the female bartender charged us way too much on one bill so on our next visit we asked how much my controy liquor was. she told us 70 pesos then tried to charge us 120 pesos each. after our complaint, she reduced the bill. I just bought a bottle of this liquor at COSTCO it cost 112.72 pesos for a one-liter bottle. WOW. this bartender should be fired. I HOPE THE OWNER OF THE BAR IS PAYING ATTENTION TO THE RECEIPTS AND CASH SHE TURNS IN. BECAUSE IF SHE CAN CHEAT AND LIE TO US SHE DOES THE SAME TO HER EMPLOYER. we were on the 9th floor. regular flights of helicopters were flying overhead and extremely loud.
Hotel Posada El Rey Sol

From our arrival their service has been very exceptional. Quick check in, clean room (every single day), any requests or questions fulfilled almost immediately. And most importantly feeling welcome and shown some sort of importance. This has been a problem at other tourist area hotels we've been to which seem to have some sort or contempt for their american guest. Well, NOT here. This place is great. Great location right in the tourist area of Ensenada, with a smart & final a block away. And the best part of our stay were the kind words and great advice/suggestions from Janeth at the front desk. This added much value to our stay here. We highly recommend this hotel to couples and families.
