早餐太一般，服務也一般。

I booked a room by emailing the hotel directly. At the time of booking, they had advertised a special offer for walking/hiking in the Ruhr valley including care parcel and hiking/walking information, with prices starting from Euros 38.50 per person. The hotel manager offered a room for 94 Euros, 12 Euros more than the rate on their direct booking system on the website for a room. As the email did not mention any extras, I double-checked what we were being offered for the extra money. I was informed that the offer was not available at Euros 38.50 per person at this time, but I was left with the impression that we would get the offer for 94 Euros. I was prepared to pay a little extra to treat my husband after a positive experience with the hotel in the past. However, in subsequent correspondence, I was told that the offer was not available at all. The manager said he had given us a care parcel "for free". (By that time, the price for a room without any extras had gone up from 82 Euros to 94 Euros on the hotel website...) I had hoped to discuss the confusing/misleading correspondence with the manager in person, but he was on holidays when we got to Essen. When we arrived at the hotel, we were informed that NO room had been reserved for us! Luckily, the lady at reception still found a room for us... It was once again confirmed hat the offer was no longer available - even though I later discovered that it was was advertised on a poster in the hotel... The offer is also STILL mentioned on the hotel's website - though prices have been removed. Extras apparently include a care parcel and touring information with insider tips regarding exhibitions, museums, and evening programmes... Our care parcel consisted of the opportunity to take away a bread roll, piece of fruit and small flapjack after breakfast... I would have NEVER agreed to pay 12 Euros extra for this. On the plus side, the hotel still serves a generous breakfast hence the 3 star rating. Would I stay again? I am not sure. If I were to book another room, I would definitely reserve a room via the booking system on the website to get the best deal and avoid making arrangements via email. I would also avoid booking a room in the hight of summer, as our room had no air-conditioning. There are a lot of building works around the hotel and drilling started early in the morning.

We came for Euro 2024. Hotel is basic but comfortable. Be aware that it is next to busy road and the noise insulation is poor (at least in our room). We were woken by sirens every morning. The hotel is in a good location for Gelsenkerchen and Dortmund with easy transport links. It is also just a short walk to the main train station. Essen seemed quite rough from what we saw but there is a venue that has Pool and Bowling near to the hotel which I would recommend.

Stayed here for 8 days during the euro championship with a group of friends. Location is great for the station and the city centre. Rooms were large,clean and relatively quiet even though we were on a main road. I have to mention David on reception, really helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble to him and he was great with directions to a lot of places . Can’t comment on the breakfast as we were always away early most days and picked up something at the station. Hoping to return in December to take in the Christmas markets. At the Front Desk I was checked in and looked after by David who was wonderful - welcoming, friendly. Helped me to understand the area and what I could see in the area. The hotel is in a good location, feels safe and 5-10 minute walk to the train station and main shopping mall/centre. Room was spacious and clean.

Hier stimmt einfach alles. Ein kleines familiäres Hotel mit individuell gestalteten Zimmern. Der Service ist einfach hervorragend. Das Frühstücksbuffet läßt keine Wünsche offen: Kein Gedrängel und genug Platz. Alles wird schnell wieder aufgefüllt. Der Bahnhof und die Innenstadt mit guter Gastronomie sind fußläufig gut erreichbar.

Alles in allem in Ordnung und gut gelegen für einen Besuch in Essen. Die Einrichtung des recht geräumigen Zimmers war etwas in die Jahre gekommen und verschlissen. Frühstück ebenfalls in Ordnung. Auswahl jedoch nicht sonderlich groß und eher „klassisch“ mit etwas Wurst, Käse, Müsli. Highlight war Lachs. Es wurde regelmäßig nachgelegt und neu eingedeckt. Das Personal hätte eine bessere Bewertung verdient. Sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend.

Das Art Körschen versprüht von außen einen etwas spröden Charme und hat gewiss schon bessere Zeiten gesehen. Man merkt den Mitarbeitern aber den Willen und das Bemühen an, den Gästen einen schönen Aufenthalt zu ermöglichen. Der Preis für ein Stadthotel in der Nähe zum Hbf war auch o.k., ebenso das Frühstück für ca. 13 €. Das Zimmer war akzeptabel auf 3 Sterne Basis. Es erfolgte eine tägliche Reinigung. Leider musste man aufgrund der dünnen Wände das Schnarchen des Zimmernachbarn ertragen. Das Haus verfügt im Hinterhof über ca. 10 Stellplätze für die Autos der Gäste unter einem Carport. Am Wochenende fand ich dort abends leider keinen Platz mehr.
