We've enjoyed visiting The Hall and Rutland Water for several years, but the recent renovations and upgrades have improved the site dramatically and there is still work being done. Blossoms Restaurant was an amazing experience, the food was fantastic and the staff were outstanding. We cycled around Rutland Water, played pitch n putt and crazy golf. The kids had a great time. Best visit yet!
Response from Property: Dear beqster, Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! We’re thrilled to hear that you’ve enjoyed visiting The Hall and Rutland Water over the years and that the recent renovations have made your experience even better. It’s great to know that you had such a fantastic time at Blossoms Restaurant and that the staff made your visit memorable. It sounds like your family had an action-packed day with cycling, pitch n putt, and crazy golf—what a perfect way to enjoy Rutland Water! We’re delighted that this was your best visit yet, and we look forward to welcoming you back for more fun in the future. Kind Regards Subburaj Operations Manager.

Arrived around 5:30, twin room in the main house - absolutely beautiful, there’s nothing I can fault about the room. Evening meal was ok, expensive but understandable for the setting. It was disappointing that I had to chase up a drink twice and we were left towards the end, no one came over and dessert plates not cleared until I got up to ask someone. Seemed they were all too busy setting up for breakfast. Definitely keep at least one staff looking after guests whilst others set up. Been there, done it…. Pool was closed for refurbishment but I’d emailed about this as we were staying for a birthday and that’s where they upgraded our room. Really nice of them to do, always worth asking. Breakfast was brilliant, huge selection, chefs visible cooking more English breakfast items. Again, can’t fault it. Overall a really good stay. Wish we could have done another night rather than staying somewhere else (which was not at the same standards whatsoever!) would love to visit again when the facilities are open. Lots of steps, be mindful! There is a buggy service if you can’t manage the steps.
Response from Property: Dear VikiMillisom, Thank you so much for sharing your detailed feedback with us. We're delighted that you enjoyed your stay, especially the beautiful twin room and the brilliant breakfast selection. It’s wonderful to hear that you appreciated the room upgrade, and we're glad we could help make your birthday stay special. However, I sincerely apologize for the service issues you encountered during your evening meal. We understand how frustrating it can be when service falls short, and I appreciate your candid comments. Your suggestion to ensure a team member continues looking after guests while others prepare for the next service is well taken, and we'll review this with our team to prevent similar situations in the future. We’re pleased you enjoyed your overall experience, and we look forward to welcoming you back again—hopefully with all our facilities open and ready to enhance your stay even more. Thank you once again for your constructive and kind feedback. Warm regards, Subburaj Rutland Hall Hotel Team

We are timeshare owners and we own a week in one Burnley lodges the lodges are very dated have not been refurbished in about 20 years fridge a under counter one with a small ice box a mix match of crockery and cutlery furniture some what very dated kitchen units showing there age as for the bed very old mattress pillows very lumpy as was the quilt. Timeshares owners contribute the sum 3 million pounds to the company who run the timeshares but don't spend a penny on them they have built a marquee for wedding cost of million plus other projects have been promised a pool refurbished and other improvements but getting nothing for our £1200 a year charges for one week. The timeshare contracts end in 2028 and the way things are going most of timeshare will walk away then where will they get money from to keep building new spa centre leisure centre and the other projects they have in the pipeline with the timeshare owners money because they don't seem to want to put any money into the lodges.
Response from Property: Dear U8341KUkathleenc, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. As timeshare owners, we greatly value your loyalty. However, I must address some inaccuracies in your comments. Firstly, it is incorrect to say that the lodges have not undergone any refurbishment in the past twenty years. In fact, all lodges were equipped with new kitchens approximately seven years ago, a fact that the chair of the Barnsdale in Rutland Owners Association can confirm. The revenue figures you mentioned are not accurate; the amount you've stated is significantly overstated. Since the current owners acquired the resort in 2020, they have made substantial investments in the property. This has allowed timeshare owners to relinquish certain financial obligations, saving money with the elimination of the "sinking" fund. Indeed, the owners have constructed the Pavilion (Marquee), which will generate additional revenue to be reinvested into the resort. I also wish to confirm that the pool refurbishment is scheduled to begin this coming Monday, as communicated recently to all timeshare owners. Furthermore, I can verify that the owners and I are collaborating with a designer to finalise plans for a comprehensive lodge refurbishment. We have chosen not to disclose this until we have the final details and a confirmed timeline. You are correct that the contracts conclude in 2028, and no decisions have been made yet regarding the future direction of the business. Kind regards, Adrian

We had a wonderful stay, and wished we could have stayed longer. The accessible Room was just perfect and we even had a designated parking space which was a god send. Everything was well designed and the amenities were all available. We had breakfast included and the variety on offer was huge, everything was freshly made and if you had a request this was no problem. If you’re going then make sure you book Breakfast you won’t be disappointed. We had an enjoyable walk around the grounds, taking in all that was on offer and the weather was kind to us and we were able to enjoy the views and just breathe. There is the option to have Lunch and Dinner, it might be best to book in the evening. All the staff were pleasant and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. It is near to many towns and we visited Oakham which is a pretty Village with lots of side streets and loads of unique shops. We visited the Church at Normanton a must see, and the boating lake which has lots on offer. Also nearby Rockingham Castle is a great day out. We enjoyed this visit and can’t wait to come back. Thank you too all those who made our stay so pleasurable.
Response from Property: Dear Deex1, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us and we are delighted you had a magical experience. The team will be thrilled that you found them to be pleasant, helpful and nothing was too much trouble to ensure you enjoyed your short time with us. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Warm regards, Adrian and the entire team at Rutland Hall

We booked three nights at Rutland Hall Hotel & Spa for a nice birthday treat & rest for my hard working husband. We had stayed at the hotel in the past when it was Barnsdale Hall Hotel and enjoyed the position of this hotel. The improvements made since our last stay are lovely. We booked a cosy room as money has been tight lately & would like to thank the hotel for the complimentary upgrade into a lovely room in the main building, this absolutely made our stay special. We had breakfast everyday which was of a high quality & we ate dinner in the restaurant for two nights & both times the food was exceptional. We used the pool twice during our stay & were provided with towels. All the staff are professional, hardworking & friendly & I believe are a credit to the hotel from the reception team, maintenance staff ,cleaners, leisure, bar & waiting staff. Thank you
Response from Property: Dear Julie, Thank you very much for taking the time to review your stay with us and delighted to read you had a lovely stay. Thank you for the kind comments for the team especially for the housekeeping and maintenance teams who don't get acknowledge that often due to working behind the scenes but are crucial to ensuring we aim to exceed guest expectations. They will be delighted they have been appreciated. Kind regards, Adrian and all the team at Rutland Hall

Stayed for one night at this hotel with my friend. Was checked in by Max who greeted us and explained the grounds of the hotel and told us all we needed to know. The room was the perfect size needed and was clean and tidy with a beautiful view from the balcony where we enjoyed our take-away afternoon tea. The food in Blossoms Restaurant was DELICIOUS and we were provided with excellent service from all staff. We had a lovely game of crazy golf and enjoyed exploring the tidy grounds and views. Left this morning and was checked out by Marie who made sure we had a great stay. Highly recommend this place to anyone!
Response from Property: Dear Mollyk388, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us and delighted you had great service and would highly recommend us to anyone! We shall pass on your kind comments to the team, in particular Marie and Max on our reception team. We hope to welcome you back soon. Warm regards, Adrian, Marie, Max and the entire team at Rutland Hall

What a great stay at this beautiful hotel. I really can’t fault the hotel, it was a lovely break. We stayed as 2 adults and 1 child in a lake side king. The view, the space and the amenities were 10/10. It was so peaceful. My son enjoyed swimming we all had a game of crazy golf. The grounds of the hotel are extensive yet so well kept. It really must take a lot of work to keep them all so neat and well looked after. The yoga mat in the room was a lovely touch! My only suggestion would be to make some changes in the restaurant, the staff we found to be a little inexperienced, little mistakes made which normally wouldn’t raise eyebrows but the price is at a point where you pay attention to little details and sadly it was needing improvement. For example, I informed the staff I am unable to have Stilton cheese when I ordered the cheeseboard it arrived with the Stilton on. The kids pizza meal is just 2 very small slices of pizza. Not sure what they do with the rest? The lady who took us to our table on arrival made too much of a deal about how hot the chefs special was, the intro was “the chefs special is lamb bhuna but it is really hot!!!! a dish I would of ordered otherwise but when I asked how hot it was very overplayed and I was put off. on the check out day we ordered lunch, I paid extra for fries to come but they forgot them so I had to go inside and ask. When we asked for ketchup the girl brought out an overflowing (literally) pot which ended up over the table. In saying this, the food quality was perfect, a good choice on the menu and the food we had, especially breakfast was delicious, I just think for the price point the standard could be improved. In terms of staff, there was a very friendly young male in the restaurant who was very attentive and friendly. I didn’t catch his name but he is the only one in the restaurant that lunch time who delivered a high standard of service. We will definitely return, it was sad to leave!

Response from Property: Dear Juicedupbling, Thank you so much for sharing this lovely review with us! I am so pleased to see that you enjoyed your experience here at Rutland Hall. I will make sure to pass on your fantastic comments about the grounds to our estates team. They work incredibly hard to keep the resort looking neat and tidy. We will certainly review your points regarding the restaurant so that we can work towards elevating the overall guest experience. It is extremely valuable for us to be able to learn from this feedback. We hope to be able to welcome you back again soon! Kind regards, Cameron Ellson

What a great location, overlooking Rutland water, we stayed two nights, our room was very clean and had everything you need. We ate in the Blossoms restaurant both nights, the food was superb and all the staff were so attentive, helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble, to name but a couple, Amy and April, they were just two but all the staff were great, thank you for a lovely stay.

The room was very clean and comfortable bed. Shame there was not walk in shower in our room but not sure if you can request this. We booked dog friendly room where they provide bed, bowls and treat, good job we took her bed with us as the bed was too small for our labx. Blossoms restaurant was very nice but somewhere with more character would be good.

Perhaps one star is a little unfair because the wedding we attended at the venue was very good - the whole thing from start to finish was well run and of a high standard. But what let the whole experience down was the staff in the reception of the hotel. Rude, sarcastic and just didn’t give a toss - yes, I know it sounds far fetched but all of them were the same. Is it part of the hotels training regime ? As for paying for your room, well, just be careful with the slapdash nonsensical charging system. My advice is if you are attending a function at the venue stay at another hotel (some excellent ones close by) as the greeting you will get will spoil the day.

We stayed at this hotel recently to meet up with friends. Although we had paid for a room upgrade we didn't have a view of the lake which was disappointing. The room was a good size but it was VERY dark, the lighting was really poor. It did have a nice balcony. The food was mediocre and very expensive. The gravel drive was difficult with suitcases and would be awful for wheelchair users and anyone with limited mobility. The restaurant was not easy to get to for some of our friends - up lots of steps even when they used the lift. The staff were pleasant and helpful. This hotel is in a good location for visiting Rutland Water but poor value for money. We had paid for dinner, bed and breakfast but the dinner was only an allowance towards an expensive menu the first night we were told it included a glass of house wine but this wasn't offered on the second night. The spa and swimming pool were closed which was again disappointing but we understand the need to refurbish but no reduction in room rate was offered in lieu of this. It is a shame tea and coffee is not available in the nice sitting room by reception.

I just wanted to say thank you for helping us run a successful event. Everything worked brilliantly, everyone had a lovely time and they loved the venue. The events team were extremely attentive and Kylie did a fantastic job. The food was beautiful, the dinner service was perfect and nothing was too much trouble for the team. Of special note was Meredith who was working both nights in the restaurant. She was attentive and made sure everyone was happy and she ensured both evenings ran smoothly. I will certainly be recommending Rutland Hall for more events.

This is the second time we’ve come to stay here. It really is so lovely and relaxing, our room was beautiful and overlooked the lake. We stayed in Uppingham and had a suite, it was such a lovely room with our own balcony too. The Blossoms restaurant is a great place to eat, really good quality produce, well presented and the chef’s are great. The restaurant itself is very contemporary and has a relaxed atmosphere. It also has a lounge, Where you can have lunch, pre dinner drinks or just meet up with friends and have a coffee. We’ll definitely come back. Thank you once again for a lovely stay.
