Courtyard Fargo

I spent the week working about three hours outside of Fargo. I’ve returned to the city to wait for my flight that leaves tomorrow. Of course I’m going to stay at the local Marriott wherever I am and this time it happens to be the courtyard in Fargo. I arrived after dark, but the location was well lit and prominent even from the expressway. I did take a little detour down the road and back up just to see what was close by. There are a ton of restaurants very close to this hotel. There’s also a Costco directly across the street. It looks like there is quite a bit more in this area, but being that it’s late and I just drove three hours. I decided to go ahead and check in to the hotel. either the hotel has been kept up very well or it is relatively new. The style is very pleasing on the outside. Parking was a breeze and there is ample parking spaces available. It looks to be what I believe a hospital on the other side of the parking lot but as of now I have not heard any loud noises from ambulances, etc. Once inside the decor definitely looks like it is a newer courtyard property. The decor is earth tones with a lot of very comfortable looking seating. There is also a very nice looking bar on the main floor. The staff member who checked me in tonight was super friendly. He was very helpful with giving me the location of everything within the hotel, as well as the hours for the bar and for breakfast in the morning. I was promptly given my key and directed towards the elevator. Upon entering my room, I immediately noticed a door to my left. The door seemed abnormally large, and for a moment, I thought that perhaps it was the door to the adjoining room & had been left open. However, it was actually the door to an enormous bathroom. The bathroom is well appointed, nice and bright, and has a gigantic shower. There was an over abundance of towels in the bathroom, and I don’t even believe that I requested extras for the stay. Further entry into the room revealed a nice king size bed, a great sofa and ottoman, a very big flatscreen TV, a mini fridge that is hidden in a cabinet, and a super long desk. This room is definitely meant for business travelers or those who travel with a lot of electronics. I love love, love love rooms with enough plugs so that I can charge all of my devices at once. I work in IT so I often travel with multiple laptops and many peripherals. Right now I have everything all set up so that I can get up in the morning and start work. On both sides of the bed, there is also ample places to plug in devices using both AC adapters as well as USB. If this is a new hotel, and this is the new style that Marriott is going with by putting so many ways to charge devices in rooms, I’m all for it. I ended up going back downstairs to grab something to drink and ran into the same friendly associate. I’m now chilling and having a drink and about to watch a movie. This courtyard is a 10 out of 10.

The bed was very comfortable. Scaled back service for Covid. The TV had a short, but I chose to leave it be and reported it for maintenance after we left. Street noise was loud after 8 am, walls thin. Interesting long, thin glassed-in shower. I would stay there again, but would make sure the TP is stocked and the TV worked before unpacking. They are only doing room cleaning every 3 rd day. Breakfast free, though is all carbs. No gluten-free free options except yogurt. Parking spaces were very narrow, more for tiny cars. Easy access to stores, restaurants, and the freeway. Nice lobby where I noticed a family playing a game.

This was a trip for a family funeral. It served our needs well. I had stayed there 4 years ago. It doesn’t seem like it has been kept up very well - definitely sighs of aging. There was an advertised “dinner” in the lobby in the early evening; it was chicken nuggets, iceberg lettuce with dressing, and potato chips. I think a “happy hour” with things like chips/salsa, cheese/crackers, veggies/dip might be more appealing. The breakfast was better than expected - the best we’ve seen since our limited travels the past pandemic years. Wasn’t fancy, but it was ok. Front desk staff was very helpful. A serviceable hotel, at a reasonable cost.

The city of Fargo is said to have the lowest prices in North America. If the Red Roof INN is placed in other cities, it is estimated that it will cost 800 yuan per night. The prices here are really low. But it’s also very simple. Don’t even think about slippers and toothbrushes. They are not available in North America, but it’s not surprising that disposable shampoos are necessary. Fortunately, I always use my own.

Due to being stranded in a snow blizzard we had to get to the closest Hilton. Thankfully just 2 blocks away! On a busy Friday night, was able to book on the Hilton app and check in within 2 minutes! At check in they gave me toothpaste and toothbrush. My toddler was given 2 ducks… she loved them! This Hilton was so hospitable, comfy beds, comfy cozy room, quiet room even on a busy Friday night …so thankful! Even with the struggles, of a fire alarm and no usb plug ins in the room, this hotel was the best stay with Hilton Hotels in a long time! Appreciate the professionalism of the staff and housekeepings excellent cleaning! The Best Hilton in Fargo!
