A great location and wonderful view, we ended up paying a little extra when we arrive to upgrade our room to have a bit more space and bigger beds. The host was very accommodating and helpful with providing advice on what to do and where to go. We only stayed one night but I think that is enough time to see all of the sites in this pretty little town.

This is our first time in the area and we really enjoyed our stay. The view from our room was incredible and offered a panoramic view of the ancient city. Our host graciously gave us an overview of the area and what places to hit up. She was also able to help us out with contacting the local authorities when we lost our drone and needed to access a neighboring house. Overall, we really enjoyed our time here and would recommend for anyone looking to visit the area for the first time.  P.S. they also have two super friendly cats so if that’s your thing, come meet them!

I had a wonderful stay at the Fenghuang Best River Hotel and would recommend it to anyone! From the start of my arrival, the service from the receptionist was impeccable, where she explained how to arrive at the accom as it was slightly confusing due to the lack of Didis. Rooms were extremely clean and spacious, and the receptionist was extremely enthusiastic in giving us a guided itinerary and map for the area. The view from the balcony views were spectacular and rivalled the ones on the ground level. Would recommend to anyone looking for a stay located in the heart of the action, and as a bonus for any cat lovers there are 2 cats to play with in the lobby :D

Location is the best. Host contacted me in advance to advise how to get to the hotel and helped me with luggage and taxi. Host speaks English. Room is super comfortable. View is amazing. The best hotel in my long trip in China. Highly recommend to stay here.

This hotel offers the most amazing view of the city. Day and night you can enjoy the mesmerising view of the town from your hotel room. Hotel staff are very helpful, welcoming and informative. Thanks so much for making my stay there much more pleasant and comfortable. Definitely recommend this place.🥰

Great little hotel. 5 stars for location, great heater for the winter and smart toilet. There are two lovely cats roaming around the lobby. Staff were very helpful and tries their best to accommodate. Note that this hotel does not provide laundry services even though trip.com lists that it does. Might have to do some sink washing. It's winter so I hung my socks on the ceiling railing and cranked up the heater. Dried in half a day. Leaving in balcony to dry will take dayssss. Haha.

The best hotel in fenghuang. The view from the rooms is stunning. We were welcomed by the staff which is polite and helpful, providing lots of helpful informations about the city and where to explore. Great cleanliness, very recommended to stay more nights as the city is wonderful at night and the hotel is so comfortable.

The view of the town from the room is beautiful and from the hotel you can reach everything very easily. The receptionist can speak English (here is difficoult finding someone who speaks english) and is really nice and helped us very much.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights. This was the best experience I had ever had staying in the ancient city in Hunan. The scenery was truly sensational. The room was clean. The bed was very comfy. The toilet was exceptionally clean and convenient. The balcony fitted with the bath tub was amazing! The owner also lived there. She was very kind and helpful. I would love to stay at this place again if I have a chance.

The Hotel is well situated and has nice view. The staff is really nice, helpful and are available at any hour ! Nice hotel.

Grossly below expectations thus overall a rather disappointing experience. And the very steep long flight of stairs can be tricky, even dangerous if you have large or heavy bags, and a bit elderly or require some assistance walking. But the location is good and near the river.

The difference between a homestay and a hotel is that you can't drive directly to the lobby. But Guli is the only homestay with an elevator in the core protection area. The car can go directly to the downstairs of the homestay. Our warm service should be something you haven't received abroad. Next time, I hope you don't have to book a room first, and choose the one you like when you arrive at the site, and you won't be so dissatisfied with the business. After getting off the car, there are about 40 steps less than two floors high. Fenghuang Ancient Town is located in a hilly terrain; it is not a plain. Relatively speaking, it is very convenient to walk for more than ten minutes without dragging luggage. You Chinese can speak Chinese very well, but you can't understand the geographical conditions of various regions. Our external website profile has a very detailed introduction. The location is really not high and the scenery is excellent. The Chinese have a saying: Things do not come from the things themselves, but from the imprint of the observer! This is the hometown of your ancestors, not your hometown after all. I wish you a happy life in the future. I opened Ctrip's global order acceptance permission because a Thai girl likes Guli. Now I am considering whether to close it.

Solid hotel on the path above the old town. It’s good to be slightly further away due to the noise that place makes during the night but the hotel remains within a 2 minute walk.

We spent a wonderful night at the hotel. We arrived in the evening and the girl working at the front desk kindly helped carry my bags up the stairs. She offered cold drinks while checking us in, showed us the room, and introduced us to the attractions and gave us restaurant recommendations. She helped us find a taxi when we left (Didi service was unavailable.) She was really kind and helped us a lot. The hotel is located at the bend of the river. From the balcony, we could take in the beautiful night scenes. All the main attractions are just a few steps away. We happened to arrive the night before the mid-autumn day and thoroughly enjoyed the holiday atmosphere. We were happy to spend a night in Fenghuang Ancient City and stayed at this local hotel. Would recommend it to anyone visiting Fenghuang.

Great place to stay to visit the Phoenix Ancient Town. Cars cannot go inside the Phoenix Ancient Town. So the hotel is well located on the edge and you can easily access by crossing the road and going down the stairs. The room was clean and had an air conditioner. Wang spoke English and was very friendly to explain the main attractions. She also assisted to carry the luggage. Thank you. As pointed out in other reviews, there are a bit of stairs to reach the hotel. As a trade off, you will get some amazing views. For tourists, please note that the easiest way to come here is via the Fenghuangguchen High Speed Railway Station. From there you will need to take a taxi for around CNY25. I don’t think there was Didi yet at the time of this review.
