Logis Hotel Restaurant des Gorges du Tarn

In unassuming but charming Florac, this hotel was a real find. Having read previous reviews I knew we should book dinner but I really wasn’t expecting such a beautifully presented top class dinner. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout and our quiet bedroom, overlooking the garden, had everything we needed, even spare pillows and a toothbrush as our electric one’s charger didn’t fit the socket.

Reasonably smart and modern, with all the facilities you would expect of a Logis in this price range. Very quiet area, large bedroom and comfortable bed. Sufficient free onsite parking. The restaurant provides a varied menu with predictably fine results - we felt no need to look elsewhere. Super-helpful staff. Solid recommendation if your travels take you to this (lovely) part of France.

Very nice, comfortable hotel in this gorgeous little town in the Cévennes. Do not miss the restaurant! Our group of 8 all agreed it was one of the best meals we’ve had anywhere. Especially loved the smoked chestnut risotto which was served as a side for the whole table. This was the second time we’ve stopped here and we will definitely be back.

We, two couples, stayed in the hotel for 3 nights, and had dinner twice. The rooms were spacious, but the bathrooms are rather small. Food, was excellent. There are many parking lots just outside the hotel. And the hotel has a very nice park, where you can relax. However, there is no view from the hotel.

Hotel Tarn Review. We have travelled all over the World. If our experience is not 100% we normally communicate privately to the hotel. However having read the reviews of the Logis Hôtel du Gorges du Tarn there is a clear picture emerging so we will add our information for the benefit of visitors. Our twin room in the annexe was perfectly adequate, very clean & exactly as anticipated at the price. There is no lift which was not an issue for us but be prepared to carry luggage up & down stairs. We booked into the Restaurant l’Adonis. It seemed expensive but we had been driving all day & looked forward to something special. The young waiter seating guests ignored us when we arrived. He walked past us a number of times with no communication & eventually I stepped in front of him & he waved his hand vaguely in the direction of a table. We speak French well but the menu is complex. The waiter made no concessions to aid us with choice or explanation. Fortunately the charming receptionist intervened to help & provided us with an English menu. The menu du jour (€29) offered no choices. Boudin/black pudding, followed by Pigs cheek. An eclectic choice by the chef - the amuse bouche was pancreas foam. My husband chose instead to have the next option €43. A few pieces of asparagus with salad as a starter, a very bland whole trout accompanied by a piece of carrot, a piece of broccoli, a quarter of a tomato & a wedge of potato arranged beside it. We hadn’t ordered our dessert at the beginning as we weren’t sure what we would want. The young waiter - whose unhelpful attitude persisted throughout - now told us we’d have to wait 20 minutes as we hadn’t pre-ordered. The quality of the food simply does not justify the prices; the service was unpleasant. I would not hesitate to recommend a five minute walk into this lovely old town to one of the little restaurants where we had an excellent & simple meal for €13 the following evening.

Hiking again the Stevenson Trail, I was looking for a nice convenient hotel where I could have a good rest after one of the hardest stages on the trail. Having been there in 2020 and been very satisfied, I decided to give it another longer stay in 2021. Upon arrival I had a wonderful lunch. I took the daily menu which turned out to be of perfect size and taste. After a short siesta I went out to visit the town. Upon leaving I was given a useful little map of Florac which definitely helped for the visit. I slept super well. Breakfast was good! I recommend unconditionally.

Stayed here a couple of times now, we use this hotel as a journey stopover on our way to the south of France, used the resto again for all the family, great food for all, just sad that they were fully booked and part of the family had to stay elsewhere.
