the city tax paid was higher than the one stated on trip.com, and this is not a hotel, it's located in a residency building where locals stare at you whenever you're entering the buiding...

The owner of this establishment was lovely and tried her best to accommodate to a group of 22 students and 4 adults. It was the fault of the tour company not hers, that this was not an appropriate place for a group of this size. There was no reception area and no place to gather. The size of the breakfast room required us to have the kids eat breakfast in shifts. When you enter the building, you go into a dark corridor. The lights stay on about 1 minute and then you have to keep turning them on. This is where we would meet as a group to give directions, instructions, etc. To lock my room from the inside, a key was required. Also, you needed to the key to unlock the room to get out. That seems like a fire hazard, especially with kids. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the room was clean. However, one of my light fixtures was broken and the handle to the hose type bidet came off, so there was always a slight leak. The hair dryer would stay on for a couple of minutes and then shut off until it cooled down again. If you are a couple on a budget, this might be an acceptable place to stay. I, personally, would choose a different establishment.

Its a nice place, not far from things. ( about 20mins walk). Staff was friendly, didnt speak english so it made it a bit difficult, but was friendly. Overall was good. Only 2 things id point out, no iron board or iron and no glasses im room.

From the moment I arrived and was greeted by the owner, I felt welcome and utterly comfortable at La Porta del Paradiso. When she presented me with a large balcony, I could not believe it. In fact, I don't think it mentioned anything about a balcony in my booking. As you can imagine, this was a wonderful surprise and only enhanced my stay. I suggest going to the grocery store downstairs, picking up some food and drinks, and hanging out on the balcony to watch the sunset. It was truly a special experience. The bed was comfortable, the instructions for entering the building were easy, the room was tastefully decorated. I would say the only downside to this place was twofold; the noise. Whenever someone entered the apartment you'd hear a loud buzzing from the door being buzzed open. The walls were also quite thin, so you'd hear people eating breakfast or talking in the hallway. However, I won't detract any points for this as this is a pretty typical thing in Europe. Still, it was noisier than most places I've been to. In addition, my room did not have a traditional shower. Instead it had a tub and a shower nozzle. This made taking showers much trickier. All in all, however, I loved my stay and would return in a heartbeat when I come back to Florence someday.

We were supposed to arrive in the evening, however due to change of our plans we arrived before 12 pm and were well welcomed by Tiziana, she was sweet and personable. She gave us the map of Firenze and recommended the places to visit - that was lovely! The B&B has an elevator which is a big plus! The room was spotless clean with a comfortable bed. Also, we enjoyed the breakfast in the morning - simple and tasty! The only small minus was we didn't have a mirror in the room (we got the one with the external bathroom). It would have been nice to have one in the room.

At first we were a bit apprehensive as we thought we’d booked a hotel and it looked like someone’s house. Tentatively I rang the door and someone appeared from the street a couple of minutes later to check us in. It was indeed 2 apartments on the top floor converted into a bed and breakfast. There was a lift to take us up. The room was basic but clean and functional. A small breakfast was available in the morning. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Situated 10 min walk from station and a further 10 to the start of the centre of Florence, it was relatively handy for a base. A small bus at €1.50 into town was a good option to start then walk back

The room was ok but it has a music conservatory below it that starts playing music early in the morning. It is not located in the best location to the rest of Florence.
