Insotel Club Maryland

We arrived at Maryland on the 18th September.  At the reception we were given a room key and the receptionist pointed us in the direction of the room. I asked if the room was on a high floor in a quiet area as we had requested. He shrugged and said that there were no other rooms available. My wife and I struggled with 2 suitcases and hand luggage as he didn't request help for us or mention that trolleys were available. We arrived at the room and, on opening the door, we knew we couldn't stay in that room., It was dark, shabby and directly overlooked by other rooms which surrounded it. We went back to reception and asked to be allocated another room. The same receptionist just said, “there aren't any other rooms available”. I said if that's the case we won't be staying here.  A second receptionist stepped in and asked how long we were staying at the hotel. “Well depending on our room either one night or nine nights” He looked at the screen and said that there were other rooms available. He took us to a second room which although still shabby was better than the previous room as at least we now had a view across the “gardens” and were on a high floor as requested. He then kindly helped with our luggage. A s we had missed lunch due to our late arrival due to a delayed take off once again by TUI, we decided to go to the pool bar and have a bar snack which we very much needed. Later we went down to dinner. The one buffet restaurant was fine, a bit brightly lit inside for us but outside was quite nice as it overlooked the pool and beyond that the beach and sea. The selection of food was good, a bit repetitive but I think that's normal for all-inclusive. After dinner and a few drinks at the bar, we retired to our room. This is when it all went downhill. The mattresses were like sleeping on a rock. We got very little sleep and got up aching all over. As one German gentleman said to us “ the floor is softer”. Everyone we spoke to brought up the hardness of the mattresses. The rooms have a lounge with an L-shaped sofa, which converts to a bed. So many people said that they had moved into the lounge as this was softer. We didn't find it much softer though. I went to reception and asked if there was anything they could do, either change the mattresses on our twin beds or provide two mattress toppers. I was told to ask housekeeping the next morning. So after another sleepless night, I asked the housekeeper if she could help. She said, “Yes I'll see what can be done”. We went down to the pool to catch up on some sleep on the much softer pool loungers. We went back to our room later in the afternoon. Excitedly we felt our mattresses. They were even harder as the replacement mattresses were now newer! So if you are either a monk or a nun and decide that you need to do some penance for some sin or whatever I can recommend you book the Club Maryland. However, if you go on holiday for rest and relaxation, I suggest that you book another h

You have the most stunning view from this hotel, looking out over the sandy beaches and crystal clear waters of Ibiza, with the backdrop of the mountains of Ibiza as a silohette in the background. If you wish, you can watch the sun disappearing into the water as it sets, from the bar, terraced or pool area every evening. Rooms have ample space and are well looked after by the cleaning and services team. All rooms have a smart TV and a little sitting area outside to sunbathe or enjoy the views. The gardens are beautiful are well kept by the groundstaff. The members of the reception team are always happy to help and greet you with a smile. The restaurant staff are extremely friendly and couldn't do enough to help during your stay. We must give a special shoutout to Juan and Jose for accommodating the needs of our family during our stay. The food is delicious and there is a wide variety on offer each evening for guests to choose from, including desserts. One of our favourite things about the restaurant is the fresh/live cooking points, where there is one fish and one meat type cooking each evening, with pasta being baked at the other. The morning breakfast has a huge variety on offer and once again, has a chef delivering a cooked breakfast directly to your plate. Es Puyols is a 10 minute walk down from the hotel. You do have to cross an off-the-road track which is sandy/slightly rocky, but this usually easy to navigate and has amazing views as you descend down to the beach. We cannot rate this hotel highly enough - Our favourite place to stay in the world! Gracias Amigos - Hasta Pronto!
