We rolled up to our stay in the evening with the quaint village of Frostburg as our backdrop. Winter flurries were filling the air and frost appeared each time we spoke. When we entered the Italianate -style Victorian, it felt like home. The cozy fireplace was roaring and the welcomes from other guests were hearty. Our rooms were prepared like home with touches of comfy accents like mints by the door and fresh towels and bed linens awaiting us! The kids (adults) had the Frost room and were elated with their private balcony to see the fresh snow out back. They were tempted to sit in the hot hub out back. We had the Dixon room with views of the main road out front and the holiday decorations below. As we stayed, we were excited to visit the Yaks & Tracks holiday light rail ride the first night, located at the train depot nearby. We were prepared for the chilly air & somehow the experience still warmed our hearts. Jason, the Baltimore native & Proprietor, gave us lots of advice and restaurant recommendations as we headed to Fallingwater closeby in Pennsylvania, at dawn. It was a lovely day in the sunshine taking in the UNESCO world heritage site (We recommend making reservations before you arrive there). It was a pleasure to return to town at Noon and do some local holiday shopping! And come back to home base to sit by the fire, take a cozy nap, sip tea and read a favorite book. We loved meeting Jason’s pup, Kramer. He’s a teddy bear! Our time culminated with our breakfast selection. The choices were delicious and great. You had us at your scrambled eggs having us all selected the Trail House Breakfast. The coffee was liquid gold and talking with Jason was like getting insights from your big brother. We departed back to our Baltimore homes with fond memories and will perhaps return in the spring for a cycling experience.
