So what do you want to do? I have just spent 7 nights at this scenic resort and what a base it was. Kick back and admire the views in stunning and comfortable surroundings or go explore the local area. Whatever your level of activity, Lea and the team make sure your stay is memorable. Nothing is too much trouble and the recommendations were spot on. My appartment was beautifully appointed, well kept and had stunning lakeside views. The resort has a choice of accomodations and all of a very high standard in wonderfully kept grounds. Honestly, a little slice of affordable luxury in a breath taking West Michigan setting. Thank you from a very satisfied English visitor.

We stayed in Surfside 4 and the view was incredible! You could wake up in the morning and see the lake from the king size bed, and at night it was cool enough to have the windows open and let the sound of the waves lull you to sleep. There is an AC unit that works great, but it was cool enough to just use the windows (we were there at the end of June). The balcony was incredible too. There is path from the lodging area to a rocky walkway where you can stroll by the shore or watch the sunset. There are beachy areas if you climb down the large rocks there. It looked like families were doing it, but that's an at-your-own-risk situation. There are grills, picnic tables, a pool, shiffleboard, horseshoes and lots of activities for kids and families. We went swimming at Lake Michigan and Duck Lake, and enjoyed ice cream at Duck Market. The internet worked fine about 85% of the time, which was enough for me to get some work down on my laptop on the balcony (I even participated in a video webinar). We have ATT and we didn't have any phone service onsite, but most things worked with the internet signal. Service is available not very far away towards Duck Lake or Whitehall. Also recommend Fetch Brewing in Whitehall and 18th Amendment in Muskegon. Both have outdoor seating. The pizza place in Whitehall was also pretty good and delivers to Michillinda. Would love to visit again!

My wife and I spent 3 nights in August in the Annex building. This is a great place to stay for the breezes and views of the Lake. The Manager, Lea, was very friendly and helpful. The first night we had booked the small suite on the Lake side, but, I had no cell signal and the WiFi was low -- I know.. I'm hopeless, even on vacation. Lea was nice enough to move us upstairs facing inland for the next two nights.... we liked that room too... still a view of the lake from the balcony. Sure, the outside could use some paint, but I loved the family feel and the rooms and interiors were well kept and comfortable. The jewel is Duck Lake State Park, about a mile down the road. That's where there is a great beach and swimming. Another thing is the "corner store" right near Michillinda's driveway... groceries, liquor and ICE CREAM... I felt like a kid again, with my wife. If you know what to expect at Michillinda and are looking for a laid back summer place; you will enjoy!

This lodge seems to get a lot of mixed reviews, people either love it or hate it. Our experience was mixed too - how you determine your overall rating and whether this place is your cup of tea depends on how you weight the pros vs. the cons. We'll try to give them as objectively as possible: (We valued the pros more and hence are 4 star rating) Pros - 1. Excellent location - right on Lake Michigan,, spectacular views, the sounds of the lake rivals the ocean and was right outside our window. (Lakeside view rooms of course) 2. Complimentary full breakfast - menu was fairly extensive, service was adequate. 3. The large, rustic Dining rooms - attracts non-guests with 4 start food service. 4. Very rustic grounds and common rooms - "great" room with a fireplace and a game room. 5. Heated and clean swimming pool, minature golf, tennis courts. Stairs to lake are right on grounds - no street crossing, etc. 6. Very execellent views from our third story room with a semi-private porch overlooking lake. Cons - 1. Our third floor room was only accessible by climbing many stairs - no elevators. 2. No A/C,TV/Cable, clock radio, or in-room phone. (Cell phone near the lake is usually very bad) 3. Rooms were sparsely furnished with no bedroom night stands. Full bath but shower would be cramped for tall guests. 4. Rooms were some what dated and could use new flooring/carpeting.

Been coming to White Lake for over 50 years and have stayed at Michillinda maybe 8-10 times and most recently for the last six 4th of July weeks. Outstanding. Very comfortable. And whoever has complained or put negative reviews about cleaniness and service is absolutely wront unless you are stupid enough to compare a beach resort in Michigan to a five star Michelin Hyatt. Yes there is sand and yes their are bugs. Get over yourself and just look at the sunset. Access to a clean beach. Nice accomodations. A great staff -- Lea, the innkeeper and property manager does an outstanding job. Ava, Madison, Jody and Kelly really keep the place clean and running smooth. We have stayed in mulitple rooms and already have booked next year. Its just a fun, clean, carefree, relaxing place. Hope you will give it a try. Well worth the price.

Your perspective perfectly captures what makes a classic Lake Michigan beach resort special, and we’re grateful you recognize the care our team puts into creating a comfortable, relaxed, and welcoming experience. I’ll be sure to share your kind words with Ava, Madison, Jody, and Kelly—they’ll be thrilled to know their hard work is noticed and appreciated. Thank you again for your continued loyalty and for already booking next year. We look forward to welcoming you back for many more sunsets and memorable summers ahead. Warm regards, Lea

We arrived late by mistake, and they took care of our mistake. We had a great room and beautiful views of Lake Michigan. We walked the beach, played shuffleboard, and picked blackberries. The bed was comfortable, and the apartment was clean. We look forward to coming back next summer. Thanks, Chic and Carlene Clark

We have gone every year for the past 4 years and stayed in several different cottages. Since it is a family reunion with people of all ages, the setting is perfect. Lots of activities including basketball, tennis, pickleball, shuffleboard, swimming, bike riding, taking a walk, sitting by the lake, nighttime bonfire, and pool. The staff are all pleasant. There is a central dining room with a larger kitchen for when everyone gets together or some of the cabins have a small kitchen area. Nearby there are pleasant towns for dinner if you’re tired of cooking. Several brewpubs nearby as well. The Hart Monteque bike trail is about 10 miles away. We call our stays “grown up camp” (with lots of amenities).

Response from Property: Thank you so much for this wonderful review and for making Michillinda Lodge part of your annual tradition. We love hearing that your family reunions feel like “grown up camp”—that’s exactly the kind of experience we hope to create. It’s great to know the variety of activities, shared spaces, and flexible lodging options work well for all ages, and that the surrounding towns, bike trails, and local brewpubs add to the fun. Most of all, we’re grateful for your kind words about our staff—they truly enjoy helping families relax and reconnect. Thank you again for your continued visits over the past four years. We look forward to welcoming your group back for many more memorable stays by the lake.
