Just got home from 10 nights here. Emailed ahead to request a high floor sea view room. That's exactly what I got - room 905 - with fabulous sunrise views too. Yes the hotel is on a busy main road but with the balcony door closed it didn't affect us at all. On arrival we were warmly greeted by the receptionist and given a lot of helpful information. The bedroom was huge, modern, spotlessly clean and well furnished. We had to ask for a kettle and more hangers and these were delivered to the room immediately. The safe costs 3 euros a day. The bathroom was modern with 2 sinks and a walk in shower. Towels changed every day. Bedding changed a few times a week. All the staff were lovely, friendly and worked very hard. We were booked in for dinner, bed & breakfast. Most people were booked in for either room only or bed & breakfast. Breakfast was lovely with everything you'd expect. The only downside to the hotel was the choice/quality of buffet food in the evenings and the lack of restaurant atmosphere. However, if only a few guests are booked for DBB I can understand how the hotel has to limit what it offers. There was always something we could find to eat but the food definitely wasnt 4*. On one night, from 7.50pm until just before it closed at 9pm, we were literally the only 2 people in the restaurant! Overall we had a lovely stay and would stay here again but only for bed & breakfast.

just returned back from a week here. the stay was pleasant enough. the hotel has a good location, a very short walk from the beach. we booked a room with a sea view which was the only mistake, the beach view rooms are on a very busy road so it was very noisy. the staff were very friendly. seemed a little short staffed but being from a hospitality background I know this is the case in every tourist region. we booked room only but popped our heads into the breakfast restaurant and it looked nice so we decided to pay a few days to eat breakfast there. very nice and very reasonable. the drinks at the bar were also very reasonable 8 euro for a bottle of wine 4 euro for a large vodka coke. being from a tourist place that is very expensive this was a lot less than we are use too.

Told when we arrived, it was a no smoking hotel. And we would be fined 200 euros if we had a cig on our balcony. Not a great start. Then was told we could have a cig at the terrace part of the pool in the non smoking hotel. In the morning had a poor breakfast and I attempted to move to the pool terrace with my coffee and was told I can't take my coffee out. I explained I like to have my cigarette with my coffee so I want to sit in the terrace. Was told no and what's more strange is she got me an ashtray at the breakfast area where others where eating. Bad staff and management with poor food and strange rules. No kettle in room . Charged 6 euros a day to park car. Would not let me have my own drink at pool area even though I was buying drinks for myself and partner. Wasn't a disaster holiday but just silly things they could have put right.

After reading the recent reviews we were a bit worried ahead of our week stay here, safe to say we were very pleasantly surprised! The hotel is clean, rooms basic but spacious (nice bathroom, comfy bed), friendly staff and great location just across from the beach - the road is busy so can feel quite noisy but didn’t really affect our sleep, crossing right outside the hotel so easy to get to the beach. We were room only so didn’t eat in the hotel at all but often had a drink round the pool after a day on the beach - happy hour is every day between 5 and 6 where we got either 2 cocktails for €8 or 2 G&T’s for around €5, the bar area is also nice and modern. The pool is small and not many sunbeds but there are more than enough on the beach (costing around €6/€7 each per day), which is where we planned on sunbathing anyway. Lots of gorgeous restaurants within walking distance and the beach goes on for miles! Enjoyed our stay and glad we didn’t let the negative reviews put us off as this was a great base for our holiday, would stay here again if visiting the area.

On first impressions, this hotel wasn't very welcoming. There is a barrier entering the car park/hotel and no proper pedestrian entrance. Also, this hotel is on a busy main road so very noisy. On entering the hotel it was very uninviting, bleak, and gloomy. The reception area is to the right of the entrance and is very small. The receptionist guy was very pleasant and helpful. Other members of staff were friendly enough., but there weren't enough of them. Whoever was in reception also acted as bar staff. Our room was a good size and clean and tidy. It was cleaned every day, bed linen changed but the towels were small and rough. We stayed here for 1 week on a half-board basis. The food was uninteresting cold and of a poor standard. For the evening meal, there was no tea or coffee available and if you wanted water it was 3 Euros a bottle. There was a microwave to heat your food up but I don't expect this at a 4-star hotel. The only fresh fruit available was melon, other fruit was tinned, and only 2 varieties. The restaurant was more like a canteen. There are kettles but you have to ask at reception for one. Safes in the room are chargeable at 3 Euros per day. Entertainment in the hotel was very poor and uninteresting. The pool area was cleaned daily but unmanned. This hotel is definitely not a 4-star rating. The beach is a 3-minute walk across the busy main road. There are plenty of shops. bars and restaurants. There are plenty of sunbeds on the beach and this area is very clean. We would stay in Fuengirola again but definitely not this hotel.

We have just returned from our trip. The hotel location is good, across a very busy road but as listed is just across from the beach. This is the not as nice end of Fuengirola and it is a good 10 min walk to the nicer end with market stalls and shops. The beach is clean with seats available for rental daily or on a weekly basis and well worth the fee. The staff here are rude and unhelpful. The food is very low standard and does not cater for vegetarians. The rooms were cleaned to a low standard and not until 5.30pm daily. The pool is unmonitored and has poor hygiene. Overall the weather and the beach made the holiday but maybe find somewhere else to stay

The hotel itself was clean and very spacious. The maids was lovely and the lovely lady behind the bar (long dark hair and glasses, she had a scare on her elbow) lovely and polite. The down side was that understanding that you could not take food or drink into their restaurant when eating (we was half board) but when my two children age 8 and 11 years with one being super picky, there wasn't anything for the children to eat. So the ate bread rolls most of the week holiday. The dinner was the same every day they had more cold meats and cheeses tahn hot food, and the pudding was exactly the same every day perfitta rolls and watermelon slices. When my son came in with us with his own bottle of juice at breakfast as he doesn't drink orange juice or pineapple that they provided we was told that we wasn't allowed to bring it in. Then at dinner as the bar didn't serve apple juice, again it was orange juice or fizzy pop which he doesn't drink, we couldn't let him go with no fluid so he brought in a bottle of water which was told that it was bigger than the water they sell and wasn't allowed to bring it in. They was rude about it and not letting a small child bring his own juice as he doesn't drink what they sell is ridiculous! W So on a few evenings we went out for dinner to local restaurants as the food was just getting poor. Paying alot for this holiday and the breakfast and dinner wasn't worth the money at all!! The snack menu that they do at lunch time which you pay for was way better than the dinners they did. If you are wanting to stay here than the situation of the hotel and cleanliness is 4 star, but the catering and some staff are not worth it. Especially if you have small children or even adults that have a particular thing when it comes to food and drink. I have attached photos of just 2 days of the dinner.

Nice clean hotel, well situated, nice clean pool. Situated close to the beach with a bus stop outside with a bus every 15 mns to take you into the centre of Fuengirola. Daily visit from maids means bedroom cleaned every day. Also adviseable is paying for breakfast, as its worth it (all you need). Would definitely go back.

We had the most amazing time here at Mainare playa. 10 days of pure relaxation. The hotel is beautiful and clean and the staff are all super friendly. The rooms were air conditioned which was needed during the heatwave Spain had. Always plenty of sun beds available, nice music playing in the background around the pool and happy hour between 5-6 was a big hit with us. Really lovely sea view from our room. Lots of nice Bars and restaurants in touching distance. Can't wait to come back next year. Highly recommend
